Bespoke Kitchens in Merton Park
In Merton Park, we design bespoke kitchens around the room you actually have. Your kitchen is designed at a visit to your home and built in our workshop.
- Spaces sized for your oven and fridge
- A central island in a larger kitchen
- More storage in a small kitchen

Bespoke kitchens for homes in Merton Park
A larder cupboard can hold more than a run of wall units. We can build larders with shelves, drawers or racks inside the doors, planned around what you store. Built into an alcove or the end of a wall, it puts tricky space to work. We make kitchens from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about open shelves with cupboards below and a kitchen finished in your colours.
Older homes normally have generous ceiling heights, and a large share of the homes around Merton Park date from then. Kitchen cabinets can go higher, with tall larders and top cupboards for occasional things. Cabinets are made from moisture-resistant MDF or birch plywood, with the finish agreed in your quote.
We write quotes in plain English. They say what will be made, what it is made from and how it will be finished, all taken from the design visit.

What it costs
There is no set price, because there is no set room. What affects it comes down to:
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- How square the room is
- How many doors and drawers there are
- Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. We’ll talk through what you need inside at the design visit, and the quote follows.
What we need to know
When you contact us, these help most:
- What the furniture needs to hold
- Examples of the look you are after
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
To get a quote for bespoke kitchens in Merton Park, fill in our short enquiry form. Let us know which room it is and roughly what you have in mind, with sizes if you have them. Next comes a design visit, followed by a written quote.
Questions we’re often asked
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Merton Park?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Do you make bespoke kitchens for homes in Merton Park?
Yes. Merton Park is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Merton and London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit.
How do you get the furniture up the stairs?
Getting it in is planned at the measuring visit. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doors, and each section is made to a size that will get through.
Do you supply the worktop and appliances?
The worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose, and we design the cabinets around them. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
Do you work on Saturdays?
Yes, by prior arrangement. Let us know when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.
How much time does fitting need?
How long fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. We’ll talk it through at the design visit.

Caring for painted furniture
Getting the most from bespoke kitchens starts with the planning and carries on after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:
- Think about how you cook and what you store
- Talk to your other trades in good time
- Deal with damp walls first
- Think about how the cabinets will get in
The appliances you’ve chosen come with their own care instructions, and the worktop you chose will have its own care advice too.
Line up your other trades in good time. Their work and ours need to fit together, so it helps if everyone knows the plan.
Flats, conversions and lettings
If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations. We can’t give advice on leases, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so it’s worth raising at the measuring visit.
Kitchens in Merton Park homes
Homes built before 1919 make up about 47% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Merton Park, with about 29% built between 1919 and 1939, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. The National Heritage List records 11 entries within half a mile of the centre of Merton Park. Being near listed buildings does not make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. About 34% of households in the neighbourhood around Merton Park live in terraced houses, in the ONS Census 2021 figures. Kitchens in London terraces are often narrow, sometimes in a back addition, which suits cabinets made to the exact width.
If you live in a period home close to St Mary's Church, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true. Close to Morden Hall Park? A tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design. For a flat near South Merton station, kitchens are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Many off-the-shelf kitchens use chipboard carcasses with a printed or wrapped finish. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, painted in colours you choose, so the finish can be repainted later. Standard furniture is drawn for modern rooms, so its proportions can look odd in a tall period room, whereas fitted pieces can pick up the room’s height and mouldings.
Getting to the room affects the job as well. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections. Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design.

What happens on fitting day
When the fitting is done, we tidy the room. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you and answer any questions. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Scribing is done on site, which means some cutting in the room or close by, so a clear area to work in near the room helps. Dust is kept down and cleared up as we go. Where the finish is hand-painted, it can be done after the pieces are in.
- To begin, use our contact form; a brief note on the room and the kitchen you have in mind is plenty.
- We visit to measure the room and go through the layout, the storage and where the appliances will sit.
- You receive a quote in writing for the kitchen cabinets. Plumbing, gas and electrics aren’t part of it: those are for your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician.
- The cabinets are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the cabinets in your home, working around your plumber, your electrician and a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Preparing the room
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
How to get a quote
