Fitted wardrobes in London
Floor-to-ceiling wardrobes made for your bedroom: in the alcoves, around the bed or under a slope, with the inside planned for what you own.
- More hanging space in a small bedroom
- Wardrobes that reach the ceiling
- Storage around a bed or a chimney breast

About our fitted wardrobes
A standalone wardrobe stops short of the ceiling, leaves gaps at the sides and rarely suits the shape of a London bedroom. Fitted wardrobes are built to the room, from the floor to the ceiling and wall to wall, or into the alcoves beside a chimney breast. They can wrap around a bed, sit under a sloping ceiling or fill one wall of a small bedroom. Inside, we plan the hanging, shelves and drawers around what you actually keep, with long and short hanging where it helps. At the design visit we measure the room and talk through doors, layout and finish. The wardrobes are made in our workshop in moisture-resistant MDF or birch plywood, then fitted and scribed to the walls, ceiling and floor.
Why made for your room
Bedrooms in London homes are often small, with chimney breasts, sloping ceilings or a window in the way. Standalone wardrobes waste the space above them and at the sides. Wardrobes made for the room use the whole height and width, and the inside is planned around your clothes, so the same wall holds far more.
What we make
- More hanging space in a small bedroom
- Wardrobes that reach the ceiling
- Storage around a bed or a chimney breast
- A wardrobe under a sloping ceiling
- Drawers and shelves inside, not just a rail

Materials and finishes
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Birch plywood
- Spray-painted finish
- Hand-painted finish
- Hinged or sliding doors
- Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
We work in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. MDF is stable and takes paint well; birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, so it suits long shelves, carcasses and drawer boxes. Finishes are spray painted in our workshop for a smooth, even surface, or hand painted, which is easy to touch up later. The colour is agreed with you.
How it works
- You get in touch and tell us about the bedroom and what you need to store.
- At the design visit we measure the room, check the walls and ceiling, and talk through doors and the inside layout.
- We send a written quote with the design, materials and finish.
- The wardrobes are made in our workshop, in sections sized for your stairs and doorways.
- We fit them in your bedroom, scribe them to the walls and ceiling and hang the doors.
Before the design visit
Before the design visit, go through what you store: how much long hanging, short hanging, folded clothes, shoes and bags. Think about where the bed and other furniture will go, and whether you prefer hinged or sliding doors. If the wall is an external wall, mention any damp or condensation you’ve seen.
Things to know
Wardrobes on an external wall
External walls can be colder and damper than internal ones. On an external wall we plan ventilation behind and inside the wardrobe to help avoid condensation and mould, and it’s worth sorting any damp before the wardrobes go in.
Hinged or sliding doors
Hinged doors open the whole wardrobe at once but need space in front to swing. Sliding doors suit tighter rooms but only open part of the wardrobe at a time. We’ll talk through which suits your room.
Planning the inside
Count what you hang long, what you hang short and what folds. A layout built around that list stores far more than a single rail and a shelf.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf fitted wardrobes?
Off-the-shelf furniture suits some rooms well. Where the room has awkward sizes, uneven walls or a lot to store, furniture made for the space usually works better. Here’s how the two compare.
| Made for your room | Off-the-shelf | |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Made for your room, to the ceiling and wall to wall | Set widths and heights, with gaps or fillers |
| Uneven walls | Scribed to follow the wall and set level | Gaps where the wall bows or the floor slopes |
| Awkward spaces | Alcoves, slopes, bays and stairs used fully | Standard boxes that leave space unused |
| Inside layout | Planned around what you store | A set choice of rails and shelves |
| Finish | Spray or hand painted in a colour agreed with you | The colours in the range |
| Getting it in | Made in sections sized for your stairs and doors | Flat-pack boxes you or a fitter assemble |
What affects your quote
Every job is quoted for your room after the design visit, so we don’t publish prices. These are the things that shape the quote:
- The size of the piece and how much of the wall or room it fills
- How many doors and drawers there are, and what goes inside
- The materials: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both
- The finish: spray painted in our workshop or hand painted
- The room itself: uneven walls, sloping ceilings, cornices, skirting and picture rails
- Access: stairs, lifts, parking and getting the sections into the room
Read how it works for the whole process.
What your quote includes
After the design visit we send a written quote. It sets out:
- What we’ll make, with the layout and sizes agreed at the design visit
- The materials and the finish, including the paint colour
- What goes inside: shelves, hanging, drawers and any special fittings
- Fitting in your home
- What isn’t included, such as electrics, plumbing, gas or decorating, which are for other trades
- How and when the work will be done, and the payment terms
Looking after your fitted wardrobes
Paint needs time to cure fully after it’s applied, so treat new paintwork gently at first: avoid knocks, wipe spills promptly and don’t stand heavy or damp things on new surfaces. Clean with a soft, damp cloth and a mild cleaner rather than anything abrasive. Hand-painted finishes are easy to touch up if they get marked, and hinged doors can be adjusted at the hinge if they drift out of line as a house moves with the seasons.
What a customer said
“Professional from start to finish. The fitted wardrobes have transformed our bedroom - so much storage, beautifully designed. The team were punctual, tidy, and a pleasure to have in our home.”
Fitted wardrobes: common questions
Can fitted wardrobes go up to the ceiling?
Yes. Taking them up to the ceiling uses the full height of the room and avoids a dusty gap on top. We scribe them to follow the ceiling line.
Can you build wardrobes around a bed?
Yes. Wardrobes either side of the bed with cupboards or shelves above the headboard are a good way to use one wall fully.
Hinged or sliding doors: which is better?
Neither is better everywhere. Hinged doors give full access but need room to open; sliding doors save space in front but open one section at a time.
Can you fit wardrobes under a sloping ceiling?
Yes. The wardrobe follows the slope, with full-height hanging where the ceiling is high and shelves or drawers where it drops.
What goes inside the wardrobe?
Whatever suits you: long and short hanging, shelves, drawers and shoe storage. We plan the layout with you at the design visit.
Will the wardrobes fit up our stairs?
They’re made in sections sized for your stairs, landings and doorways. We measure the route as well as the room.
