Single Street Bespoke Kitchens
Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. We make bespoke kitchens for homes in Single Street, each designed at a visit to your home.
- A painted dresser for the kitchen
- A painted kitchen in a colour you choose
- A layout for a small or tricky room

Questions from Single Street
I live near Chelsfield station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Bromley and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can get in touch through our contact form with some details about the room.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Single Street?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.
What are your kitchens made from?
Our kitchens are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then spray painted or hand painted. Your quote sets out the materials and finish.
How do you get the furniture up the stairs?
The furniture is built in sections, sized for the route as well as the room. At the design visit, we measure the route along with the room itself.
How much time does fitting need?
How long fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. We’ll talk it through at the measuring visit.
Bespoke kitchens for homes in Single Street
A dresser brings a traditional feel to a kitchen, and in a period house it can look as if it has always been there. We make dressers to fit the wall they stand against and finished to match the rest of the kitchen. Typical reasons to get in touch are a kitchen for a room that isn’t square and tall larder storage, and the answer is built in our workshop from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
A larger semi or detached house may have room for a utility area or boot room by the back door. Much of the housing around Single Street is interwar, semi-detached or detached. Tall cupboards for the washing machine, coats and cleaning things can be made to match the kitchen. Plumbing for any appliance is for your plumber.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something isn’t quite right, tell us before anything is made.

What we do not do
It is useful to know what’s outside our work before you plan:
- Wiring for appliances and lights
- Knocking through or rebuilding walls
- Plumbing, which is for your plumber
If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we will give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How it works.

The problems bespoke kitchens solve
In many older homes, ready-made units struggle with lean and slope. Cabinets end up with gaps or tilted lines, and a bespoke kitchen is scribed and levelled to avoid that.
Common reasons to get in touch include:
- More storage in a small kitchen
- A larder for food and small appliances
- A kitchen planned around your appliances
- Cabinets for a narrow kitchen
If your children go to Cudham Church of England Primary School or a school nearby, a kitchen with a spot for school letters and lunch boxes makes mornings easier.
Choosing a carpenter
- Will the doors close with even gaps?
- Whether the route into your home has been checked
- Are the boards named, like MDF or plywood?
- Which parts of the job need an electrician or a plumber
From workshop to your room
There is not much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and it helps to have the room cleared beforehand, as agreed during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. The time the fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In a 1920s or 1930s house, the hall and stairs are usually straightforward, though we still measure the route in not just the room. Kitchens arrive in sections and are assembled in place.
- You get in touch and describe the kitchen you want.
- At the design visit we plan the kitchen and talk about colours and finish.
- Your written quote sets out the design, the materials and the finish.
- We make the kitchen in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF, which suits kitchens and takes paint well, and birch plywood.
- We fit the cabinets in your home; a hand-painted finish is applied on site and is easy to touch up later.
- Treat new paint gently while it cures; the plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your own plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician.
Preparing the room
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician ahead of time
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
How to get a quote

It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. A quarter or more of the homes in the streets around Single Street (about 29%) were built between 1945 and 1972, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Materials and finishes
Spray-painted finish
We spray paint in the workshop for a smooth, factory-like finish.
Doors and drawer fronts
Door style makes a big difference to the look, from simple flat fronts to framed doors.
Flats, blocks and rented homes
Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, as it makes good use of an tricky room. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Tell us about it when you get in touch.
