Bespoke kitchens in Yeading: local notes
In the streets around Yeading, the largest groups of homes date from between 1945 and 1972 (about 45%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 27%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Yeading include White Hart Public House (Grade II), about 0.5 miles north. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features like panelling can require listed building consent. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. Each London borough runs its own parking controls, and Hillingdon is no exception. If your street in Yeading is in a controlled parking zone, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension through the council may be needed. Let us know about parking at the measuring visit.
If you live in a period home close to St Joseph the Worker & Dovetail Centre, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. For a family home near Brookside Primary School, a drawer set aside for lunch boxes and water bottles keeps mornings calmer.

Bespoke kitchens in Yeading
Some kitchens suit a dresser, with cupboards below and open shelves above, and it suits many period homes. We make dressers to fit the wall they stand against, scribed to follow it and painted to suit the room. If your home has a dresser that suits a period house and cabinets for a narrow kitchen, that’s what kitchens are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
If you live in one of the post-war homes around Yeading, kitchens are often galleys or small separate rooms. Tall cupboards, a larder and wall cabinets taken to the ceiling add a lot of storage. Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood keep the cabinets stable, with the finish agreed in your quote.
Once you’ve read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is made at our workshop. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so every detail can be checked first.

How fitting works for bespoke kitchens
Finishing comes last. With a spray finish from the workshop, there’s typically only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that is what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Parking near post-war estates can depend on residents’ bays and estate rules, so let us know what applies at the design visit. Fitting day is the sections coming in, being joined and fixed in place. Saturdays can be arranged.
- First, you tell us about the room. Say a little about the way you cook.
- We visit, measure and go through the layout, larder, dresser or island, where space allows.
- You receive a written quote, setting out the cabinets, materials and finish.
- The kitchen is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics.
How to prepare
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
Arranging a design visit
Rough measurements are fine at the start. Everything is measured properly when we visit. To get started, send us a few details through our contact form and let us know about the room. You receive a written quote after the visit.
Related advice
Do you need bespoke kitchens in Yeading?
Uneven walls and floors make standard kitchens hard to fit. Gaps and wavy lines are hard to hide, and a bespoke kitchen is scribed and levelled to avoid that.
We are often asked to help with:
- Open shelves with cupboards below
- A kitchen finished in your colours
- A kitchen for a room that isn’t square
- A kitchen planned around your appliances
Close to Northala Fields? A tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- Which parts of the job need an electrician or a plumber
- How they handle walls that aren’t straight
- Real projects you can actually look at
- Is it spray painted or hand painted?
DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. That’s something we plan for in the design.
What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. Off-the-shelf furniture cannot usually do that in an older room.
What it’s made from
Doors and drawer fronts
The style of the doors sets the tone of the kitchen, whether plain or framed.
Larder and dresser units
Dressers suit many period kitchens, and each is made for its wall.
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, and that’s best sorted before fitting day. We can’t give advice on leases.
For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. An agent can arrange access for you.

Common questions about bespoke kitchens
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Yeading?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It is useful to let us know about parking during the design visit.
I live near Southall station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Hillingdon and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. You do not need to watch us work, but it helps to be around at the end.
Can you fit cabinets to walls that are not straight?
Yes, it’s something we deal with all the time. Walls in older homes are rarely flat and floors often slope, so every cabinet is scribed and levelled.
Do you handle the gas and electrics for the kitchen?
No, those are jobs for other trades. Plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician, and we fit the cabinets.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.
