Wall beds for homes in Yeading
Spare rooms in London homes are often small, and the bed fills the room even when no one is staying. A wall bed gives that floor back during the day for a desk, a hobby or just space. Guests still get a proper bed when they stay. If you are living with a guest room that sits empty most of the time and hiding the bed when it’s not in use, wall beds made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish can solve it.
Post-war bedrooms often have a wide window with a radiator underneath, so storage typically goes on the walls beside or opposite. Many homes around Yeading were built in the post-war decades, so we expect to plan around a radiator. Furniture is kept clear of the radiator so the heat reaches the room.
Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Tips worth knowing
These points come up often when people plan wall beds. They’re worth knowing before and after fitting:
- Treat new paintwork gently at first
- Tell us what the wall is made of if you know
- Lower and lift the bed steadily
- Leaseholders: check your lease first
Before you first use the bed, read the mechanism maker’s guidance on lowering and lifting it. Make sure the floor in front is clear before the bed comes down, and don’t let children play with it.
Consider how often the bed will be used and by whom. It shapes the bed size and the type of mechanism as well as the storage around it.
When you need someone else
Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. In practice, that means:
- Mattresses, which you choose to suit the mechanism
- Lease checks, which are for you and your building’s managers
- New sockets, lighting or wiring (your electrician)
Not sure whether your space suits wall beds? You can fill in our short enquiry form and we will tell you. How it works.

Questions from Yeading
Can you make wall beds for a home in Yeading?
Yes. We cover all of Hillingdon and the rest of London, and Yeading is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, and then we send a quote.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Yeading?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It is useful to let us know about parking during the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
There are two options: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. The finish is agreed in your quote.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
It needs a little planning: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. Damp treatment isn’t something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.
Can I send pictures before the visit?
Yes, they help. Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space, especially with rough measurements. To send them, message us from the contact page.
Do you supply the mattress?
The mechanism maker sets limits on mattress size and weight. We’ll explain its limits during the design visit, so you can pick the right one.
Why bespoke in Yeading?
If you may move soon, a standalone bed you can take with you could suit you better. It is worth thinking about how long you plan to stay before choosing built-in. Post-war rooms are often compact, and standard furniture sizes waste space at the ends and the top, while fitted furniture fills the space. The pieces are made to the room’s own widths.
Access to the room makes a difference too. Several flights of stairs, a small lift or a narrow hall can mean smaller sections and more carrying. We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit.

Fitting day, step by step
Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the design and how much storage goes around the bed, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Communal stairs in older blocks often have tight landings, so sections are sized for both the stairs and any lift. Letting the caretaker or managing agent know ahead of time helps. Common parts are protected while we carry in.
- To begin, fill in our short enquiry form; a brief note on the room and how often guests stay is plenty.
- At the design visit we check what the wall is made of, as a wall bed has to be fixed securely as its maker specifies.
- You receive a written quote for the wall bed and any storage.
- We build the cabinet in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the cabinet in your home and fix the mechanism as its maker specifies.
- Before we leave we show you how to lower and lift the bed.
How to prepare
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
Ask for a quote
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you don’t, that is fine, and we can work it out together. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, get in touch through our contact form.

Wall beds for homes in Yeading
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Yeading were built between 1945 and 1972 (about 45%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 27%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. If your road in Yeading falls in a zone, the van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Tell us what the parking is like at the design visit.
For families living near Brookside Primary School, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller. The wider area includes historic houses like Northolt Manor, about 1.4 miles north-east. For a period home anywhere nearby, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind wall beds is part of the design.
