Bespoke kitchens in Yiewsley: what you get
Kitchens in period houses bring their own challenges. Few walls are flat, and floors often fall away from the walls, sometimes noticeably over a single run of units. We scribe the cabinets to the walls and set them level on adjustable feet or a plinth, so the worktop you choose can sit level. If your home has a kitchen finished in your colours and making the most of a galley kitchen, kitchens made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish can solve it.
Where the sink, cooker and boiler can go often depends on where the pipes and power already are. For a kitchen in Yiewsley, the layout is planned with the existing services in mind. Any changes to plumbing, electrics or gas are for your plumber, electrician or a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Everything we agree at the measuring visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Yiewsley homes and bespoke kitchens
In the neighbourhood around Yiewsley, the largest groups of homes date from between 1945 and 1972 (about 27%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 25%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. 3 conservation areas have at least part of their area less than a mile from the middle of Yiewsley. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. About 27% of homes in the streets around Yiewsley were built between 1945 and 1972, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Kitchens from that era tend to be small and regular, which suits cabinets made to their exact size.
For a flat near West Drayton station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like The De Burgh Arms Public House, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Standard cabinets come in set widths, so most layouts end in a filler panel. Ours are made to fit the room, so the runs can fill the space properly. A standard unit is the same in every home, whatever the room is like, whereas fitted pieces are designed for one room: yours. It can be painted in a colour chosen for that room.
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

Common questions about bespoke kitchens
Is parking a problem for fitting in Yiewsley?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.
I live near West Drayton station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Hillingdon and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
How much does a bespoke kitchen cost?
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. The size of the room, the number of units and the finish all make a difference. To arrange a design visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
What are the kitchen cabinets made of?
Moisture-resistant MDF for painted doors and panels, and birch plywood where strength matters. We spray paint in the workshop or hand paint, in colours agreed with you.
What if the stairs or lift are small?
The furniture is built in sections, sized for the route as well as the room. At the design visit, we measure the route as well as the room.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
There are two ways to finish it: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
What it costs
There’s no set price, because there’s no set room. The things that affect it are:
- Spray painting or hand painting
- The number of doors and drawers
- The width and height of the space
- The internal fittings
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Let us know about parking at the design visit, so it can be planned.
Before the design visit
What helps most when you first contact us:
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- Examples of the look you are after
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
To get a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form and tell us a little about the room and what you want the furniture to do. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and a quote in writing follows.
What we do not do
We do not treat damp or carry out building work, so these points are worth knowing:
- Electrics, sockets and lighting (your electrician)
- Making good walls and ceilings
- Any work on the gas supply
Not sure whether your space suits bespoke kitchens? You can tell us about the room on our contact form and we’ll tell you. How it works.
Materials and parts
- Hand-painted finish

- Larders and dressers

- Islands where space allows
Why people ask for bespoke kitchens in Yiewsley
A common reason is a room that ready-made units don’t fit. Off-the-shelf cabinets come in set widths, leaving gaps at the ends and above. A bespoke kitchen is made to the room instead.
Here are some of the needs we’re asked about most:
- A larder for food and small appliances
- Open shelves with cupboards below
- Cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls
- Spray-painted or hand-painted cabinets
Close to Lake Farm Country Park? A tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
- Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
- How they deal with uneven walls and floors
How fitting works for bespoke kitchens
You won’t need to do much on the day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and the room should already be cleared, as we’ll have talked about at the measuring visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. If you live in a block, check any rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours; for a house, steps, paths and parking are the things to mention. We plan the details of the day at the design visit. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.
- First, you tell us about the kitchen you have and the one you want. It’s useful to know the worktop, sink and appliances you have in mind.
- At the design visit we measure the room and discuss the layout, storage and finish.
- We send a quote that sets out the design, materials and finish, for you to read through.
- We build and finish the kitchen in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician handle the plumbing, gas and electrics. We don’t arrange those trades, so it helps to book them early.
Preparing the room
- Empty the space we’ll be working in
- Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
Starting with a design visit
We quote once we have seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and discuss the design with you, and the written quote comes after. Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
