Fitted wardrobes in Chingford, Waltham Forest

Fitted wardrobes in Chingford: floor-to-ceiling wardrobes built to the shape of your bedroom. Every piece is built in our workshop and fitted in your home.

  • Several odd pieces where one run of storage would do
  • Too little room for clothes
  • A tight bedroom where doors get in the way

Fitted wardrobes designed for your room

How we make fitted wardrobes for Chingford

We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood in our workshop. Doors and panels are spray painted in the workshop or hand painted, in a colour agreed with you. Then we fit them in your home, levelling them on a plinth or adjustable feet and scribing them to the walls and ceiling. Most enquiries start with damp or musty clothes against an external wall and wardrobes that are full to bursting; the furniture is made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

With interwar houses or semis a big part of the housing around Chingford, bedrooms are often simple shapes, sometimes with a chimney breast or a bay. Fitted furniture can run along the longest wall, with the inside arranged to suit you. Where a loft conversion has been added, the sloping ceiling can take storage too.

You get the quote in writing, so there is time to read it properly and share it with anyone else involved. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

Could you do it yourself?

The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.

Pricing fitted wardrobes in Chingford

Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. What affects it comes down to:

  • The overall size of the piece
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted
  • Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension

Parking is part of the price picture in London. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay. It helps to talk about parking at the design visit, so it can be planned.

Getting in touch

There’s no need for exact sizes or plans. It is enough to send:

  • A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
  • Approximate measurements of the space
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for

If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you do not, that is fine, and we can work it out together. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, fill in our short enquiry form.

Common questions about fitted wardrobes

Is parking a problem for fitting in Chingford?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Do you cover homes near Chingford station?

Yes, homes across Waltham Forest and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with some details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

How do I get a quote for fitted wardrobes in Chingford?

Just tell us about the room on our contact form. Rough sizes and a few photos help, and we’ll arrange a design visit.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, Saturdays are possible by arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch, and we will see what we can do.

What happens when you come to measure?

It is a chance to measure properly and talk through what you’d like. We also check the walls and floors and note radiators, sockets and other things in the way, then send a quote in writing.

Hinged or sliding doors: which suits my bedroom?

The space in front of the wardrobe typically decides it. Where a bed sits close by, sliding doors often work better, while hinged doors suit rooms with space to open them. We will look at the room with you during the design visit.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Chingford

The biggest shares of homes in the area around Chingford were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 51%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 20%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Near the centre of Chingford, Historic England’s list includes Church of All Saints (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles west, and Church of St Peter and St Paul (Grade II*), about 0.6 miles north-east. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features like panelling can need listed building consent. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. About 10% of homes around Chingford were built before 1919, well below the figure for Waltham Forest as a whole, about 45%, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. We check what the walls are made of at the design visit, as they vary with the age of the home.

Living in a block of flats near Chingford station? Then check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in. For an older house near All Saints' Church, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design. For families living near Parkside Primary School, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else.

How fitting works for fitted wardrobes

On the morning of the fitting, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. Next, we carry in the sections made in our workshop. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Clearing the room and the way in beforehand helps the day run well. On the day, we cover the floors first, then bring the sections in. Each piece is levelled, scribed where the wall wanders and fixed to suit the wall.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about the bedroom.
  2. We come to measure the room, check the walls and ceiling and agree the layout.
  3. Your quote follows, with the layout, materials and finish set out.
  4. We make the carcasses, doors and drawers in our workshop, sized to get through your doors and up the stairs.
  5. The wardrobes are fitted in your home, set level and scribed to the walls and ceiling. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
  • Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area

Ask for a quote

We quote once we’ve seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and go through the design with you, then send a quote in writing. We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. To arrange a visit, get in touch through our contact form.

What we do not do

Before you plan the job, it is useful to know what we do not do:

  • Decorating or plastering the room
  • The loft conversion itself, which is building work under Building Regulations
  • Moving switches or sockets, which needs an electrician

If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we will give you a straight answer. How it works.

What it is made from

  • Birch plywood
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Hinged or sliding doors

Flats, blocks and rented homes

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations, and that’s best sorted before fitting day. We can’t advise on your lease, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.

For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.
