Fitted wardrobes for your home in Chingford Mount
How it is made
Hanging rails
We place rails at the heights your clothes need: one high rail for long coats and dresses, two rails for shirts and jackets.
Birch plywood
Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which suits wardrobe carcasses, shelves and drawers. You can paint the edge or leave the layers showing.
How we make fitted wardrobes for Chingford Mount
The inside matters as much as the doors. We plan the mix of long hanging, double hanging, shelves and drawers around your clothes. It’s useful to think about what you wear most before we meet. If you’re living with wasted space beside the chimney breast and gaps above and around standalone wardrobes, that is what fitted wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
Around Chingford Mount, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, the third bedroom is often small, sitting over the stairs. Small rooms like that suit fitted wardrobes, whether the room is a guest room, a dressing room or a study. Every wall is measured and checked, even in a house that looks square.
Our quotes are written in plain words. You will see what will be made, the boards used and the finish.

Bedroom storage in Chingford Mount
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Chingford Mount were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 55%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 13%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Near the centre of Chingford Mount, Historic England’s list includes Church of All Saints (Grade II*), under half a mile north, and Church of St Edmund (Grade II), less than half a mile south-east. If your own home is listed, changes inside that alter its character, like fixing into or removing original joinery, may need listed building consent. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. London’s red routes are run by TfL, and stopping on them is tightly controlled. Where a home in Chingford Mount is on or beside a main road, it helps to mention that at the measuring visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.
If you live near The Highams Park, morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they won’t shade the window. For an older house near St Edmund's Church, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design.

How fitting day works
You won’t need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed at the design visit. After that, it is over to us: the floors are covered, the sections come in and the fitting begins. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Interwar houses typically have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, though we still measure the route in not just the room. The furniture comes in sections and is put together where it is going.
- You tell us about the room, including any slopes, alcoves or windows. A rough sketch of the room helps if you have one.
- We come to measure and talk through hanging heights, doors and drawers, with your clothes in mind.
- A written quote follows.
- We then make the wardrobes in our workshop, ready for spraying or for hand painting on site.
- We bring them to your home and fit them in place.
How to prepare
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
Getting a quote
A quote begins with a few details from you: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of photos if you can take them. To send them, use our contact form. We will then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Questions from Chingford Mount
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Chingford Mount?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking at the measuring visit.
Is Chingford Mount in the area you cover for fitted wardrobes?
Yes, we work across Waltham Forest, Chingford Mount included, and across the rest of London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit.
Can a fitted wardrobe go against a cold wall?
Yes. We plan ventilation behind and inside wardrobes on external walls, using moisture-resistant MDF. Any existing damp needs dealing with before fitting.
Will a sloping floor cause problems for fitted wardrobes?
We allow for it from the start. We level the wardrobe on a plinth or feet and scribe it to the walls so the doors close neatly.
How is the price worked out?
It depends on the size, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish, along with access and parking. We send a quote in writing after the design visit.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you contact us.
Do you need fitted wardrobes in Chingford Mount?
An awkward room is another reason. A sloping ceiling, a chimney breast, a low window or a door in the wrong place can defeat standard furniture. We shape fitted wardrobes around those features.
If any of these sound familiar, it’s worth getting in touch:
- Empty alcoves in the bedroom
- No space in front for doors to swing
- Mismatched bedroom furniture
- Musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall
If you live in a flat close to Highams Park station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in.
Choosing a carpenter
- How they’ll get the furniture into the room
- Have they thought about parking near you?
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
What it costs
When we put a quote together, we consider:
- The number of doors and drawers
- Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
Tricky rooms take more time: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. The quote allows for it, which we write after seeing the room.
Helping us understand the room
A little information at the start saves time later. If you can, send:
- Approximate measurements of the space
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.
Could you do it yourself?
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.
Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there’s normally a gap left over at the top or at one end. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can use the full height and width.
