Fitted home offices for your home in Wallington

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

A standalone desk can go with you when you move. A fitted office stays with the house, and it uses the space in a way a standalone desk cannot. The right choice depends on how long you plan to stay. Standard widths and heights seldom suit an actual room, which leaves gaps at the sides and wasted space on top. Fitted furniture is made to the room.

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

What you get with us

  • We work across all London boroughs
  • A spray or hand-painted finish
  • More than 300 projects completed
  • Made for your room, not a standard size

About our fitted home offices in Wallington

Light matters in a home office. A screen facing a window can be hard to read, and a window behind you can cause glare. We’ll suggest where the desk should go to make the most of daylight without glare. We look at it early during the design visit in Wallington. Typical reasons to get in touch are no proper place to work from home and an alcove or landing that could take a desk, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

Light, desk height and closed storage matter more than size in a home office. For any home in Wallington, those are the first things we look at. Desk depth and shelf positions are set around how you work.

If the job needs another trade, like an electrician or a plumber, we will tell you. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Mention it when you contact us.

If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

Fitting day, step by step

However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and that happens on fitting day. Few walls in older London homes are truly flat or square, so each edge that meets a wall is scribed to follow it, closing the gaps a standard unit would leave. How long the fitting itself takes depends on how much desk, shelving and storage you want, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Fitting day means joining the sections, fitting them to the walls and setting them level. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether brick, block, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

  1. It starts when you get in touch with some details about the space.
  2. At the design visit we measure, look at the light and the sockets and plan the layout with you. New sockets are for your electrician, so it’s useful to think about them early.
  3. A quote in writing follows, with the design, finish and fitting days set out.
  4. Your office furniture is made in our workshop and painted to your chosen colour.
  5. We bring it to your home, fit it and leave it ready to use, with cable routes left clear.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Tell us about parking near your home
  • Keep pets in another room while we work

Built-in desks and shelving in Wallington

In the neighbourhood around Wallington, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 30%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 29%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Wallington is partly covered by a conservation area, going by Historic England’s data. Planning controls in conservation areas are mainly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitting furniture inside a house does not normally need permission. If you are unsure, check with the council before work starts. London’s red routes are run by TfL, and stopping on them is tightly controlled. If your home in Wallington is on or near a main road, tell us during the design visit. We can then plan where the van will stop.

For an older house near Church of the Holy Trinity, an alcove beside the chimney breast is often just right for a built-in desk. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Church of All Saints, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent.

Why people ask for fitted home offices in Wallington

Trailing cables are one of the things people most want to sort. A desk designed with cable routes keeps them tidy. Any new sockets are for your electrician, and we design around them.

Typical reasons people contact us include:

  • No way to put work away
  • Shelving that bows under the load
  • A screen that’s hard to read by the window
  • A tangle of chargers and leads

Living in a block of flats near Wallington station? Then home offices are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

Questions to ask before you hire anyone

  • Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
  • Have they thought about parking near you?
  • Whether the route into your home has been checked
  • How they handle walls that are not straight

Honest limits

We do not treat damp or carry out building work, so these points are worth knowing:

  • Plastering and decorating around the office
  • Connecting printers and screens
  • Building a loft conversion, which isn’t our work

If in doubt, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

Questions we’re often asked

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Wallington station?

Yes. We cover all of Sutton and the rest of London. To get started, you can get in touch through our contact form with a few details about the room.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Wallington?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking at the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.

How do you get the furniture up the stairs?

It’s made in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. That is why we measure the stairs, lift and doorways at the design visit.

Who chooses the colour?

You choose it. The paint colour is agreed with you.

What materials do you use for home offices?

Our home offices are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then painted. Shelves are made to suit the load they’ll carry. Your quote confirms the materials and finish.

Can a home office double as a guest room?

Often, yes. We plan the office so there’s still space for guests, or with doors that close over the desk. A fold-down wall bed can also be built into the design.
