TV and media units for your home in Wallington

TV and media units for homes in Wallington

If the TV is wall-mounted, we plan the panels and shelves around the bracket position, with a route for the cables behind the screen. If the TV stands on the unit instead, the top is sized and positioned for it, with the cables kept out of sight. If your home has standard units leaving gaps and set-top boxes stacked on a stand, that’s what TV and media units are for, made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Ceiling heights across London vary a lot, from tall period rooms to compact modern ones. However your room in Wallington is built, the height is measured as carefully as the width, since it sets how tall TV and media units can be. Sections are sized for the stairs and doors on the way in.

The furniture is made at our workshop after you’ve had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so every detail can be checked first.

Living-room storage in Wallington

In the area around Wallington, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 30%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 29%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how TV and media units are fixed and fitted. Near the centre of Wallington, Historic England’s list includes Church of All Saints (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles west, and Church of the Holy Trinity (Grade II), less than half a mile west. For a listed home, internal works that affect its character can need listed building consent from the council, for example removing or fixing into original panelling. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. On TfL’s red routes, the rules on stopping and loading are strict. If your home is on or just off a main road, it helps to mention it. That way we can plan where to load and unload.

For an older house near Church of the Holy Trinity, walls that bow and floors that slope are why TV and media units are scribed to fit rather than pushed into place. Living in a block of flats near Wallington station? Then the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. Close to Carshalton Park? TV and media units can be arranged to keep the window and the light clear.

Wallington is about 2 miles west of Sutton, in the London Borough of Sutton. Our work covers every London borough and the City of London, Wallington included. Wallington is one of the places in Sutton where we make TV and media units, and the borough has 17 places on our list.

In SM6 and SM5, the process is the same as anywhere else in London. Streets in the area include Wallington Square, London Road and Maldon Road, and homes on each of them are within our area for TV and media units. Wallington sits close to the A237 and B271. If your home is on one of them, tell us at the measuring visit, as some main roads have strict stopping rules. Close by, we also work in Bandonhill (1 mile east), Carshalton (1 mile west), Beddington (1 mile north-east), The Wrythe (1 mile north-west) and Roundshaw (1 mile south-east). We also make TV and media units in nearby places like Sutton (2 miles west), North Cheam (3 miles west), Benhilton (2 miles west), Sutton Common (2 miles north-west), Rosehill (2 miles north-west) and St Helier (2 miles north-west). As one of the bigger places in Sutton, Wallington is covered for TV and media units and everything else we make.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Tell us about it when you contact us.

A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, after measuring the route at the design visit.

Questions we are often asked

Can you make TV and media units for a home in Wallington?

Yes. We cover all of Sutton and the rest of London, and Wallington is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, and then we send a quote.

Do you cover homes near Wallington station?

Yes. We cover all of Sutton and the rest of London. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Can you fit furniture on an external wall?

It can be done with some care: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. Damp treatment isn’t something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.

How long are you in the house for fitting?

The fitting depends on the size of the unit and the cable routes planned into it, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. The unit is made at our workshop first, so the time in your home is mostly fitting and finishing.

Can you build a TV unit for a wall-mounted TV?

We can plan for either a wall-mounted TV or one standing on the unit. If the TV is wall-mounted, panels and shelves are arranged around the bracket and cables.

How do you get large furniture into a flat?

It is made in sections, sized for the route not just the room. That’s why we measure the stairs, lift and doorways at the design visit.

Looking after your furniture

None of this takes much effort. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Think about which things need to be seen by a remote
  • Book your electrician first if sockets need to move
  • Check where the seating will go
  • Let us know about access early

A soft, slightly damp cloth is all painted surfaces need. Avoid abrasive pads and strong sprays, which can mark the finish.

Ask your electrician about new sockets rather than running extension leads through the unit, and do not daisy-chain adaptors.

Fitting day, step by step

Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift not just the room, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.

  1. You get in touch and tell us about the room and your equipment.
  2. We visit to measure the wall and discuss the design. New sockets or wiring are for your electrician, so it is useful to have them in mind early.
  3. You receive a quote in writing setting out the unit, materials and finish.
  4. The unit is built in our workshop.
  5. The unit is fitted in your home, levelled and scribed to the walls. We check the doors and shelves with you before we leave.

Before we arrive

  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

Starting with a design visit

If you know what you want, say so; if you don’t, that is fine, and we can work it out together. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, use our contact form.

Advice

When is bespoke worth it?

Cost matters, and it is fair to say so: flat-pack is usually cheaper to buy. Bespoke earns its place where the room is awkward, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.

Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.

Honest limits

We don’t treat damp or carry out building work, so these points are worth knowing:

  • Plastering or decorating around the unit
  • New sockets behind the TV, which need an electrician
  • Configuring the TV and sound system

If in doubt, you can message us from the contact page and describe the room. How a job runs, step by step.
