Berry's Green Under-Stairs Storage

Under-stairs storage in Berry's Green: pull-out drawers, cupboards and coat storage under the stairs. We make each piece in our workshop and fit it in your home.

  • No room for a small desk or a place to work
  • The low end of the space going to waste
  • Struggling to reach the gas or electricity meter

Under-stairs storage for your home in Berry's Green

Do you need under-stairs storage in Berry's Green?

When a home is short on storage, the space under the stairs is too useful to waste. Turned into proper storage, it can hold the everyday things that would otherwise fill the hallway. It also takes pressure off the other cupboards in the house.

Under-stairs storage can help with:

  • Coats and shoes piling up in the hall
  • Nowhere to keep the vacuum and ironing board
  • A meter or fuse board buried behind clutter
  • Storage that does not match the hallway

For a flat near Chelsfield station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.

Under-stairs storage in Berry's Green: what you get

Where the space under the stairs opens onto a room, a compact desk can fit beneath it. We can build a desk with shelves above and a drawer or two below. If you’d like a socket or a light, your electrician fits it and we plan the furniture around it. It is worth talking through at the measuring visit in Berry's Green. If you’re living with open space under the stairs that collects clutter and a low corner too deep to reach into, that is what under-stairs cupboards are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

Coats, shoes, bags and the vacuum cleaner all need somewhere to go in a family house. Around Berry's Green, where interwar homes, semis and detached houses make up a big part of the housing, well-planned storage by the door or under the stairs can take a lot of it. Meters and fuse boards stay easy to reach.

You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

How fitting day works

Every fitting follows the same order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want under the stairs, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In a 1920s or 1930s house, the hall and stairs are typically straightforward, though we still measure the route in as well as the room. Under-stairs cupboards arrive in sections and are assembled in place, with floors protected throughout.

  1. You get in touch with a few details and, if you like, a sketch. It is useful to say whether the meters are under there.
  2. We visit to measure and talk about how you will use the space, and check where the meters and fuse board sit.
  3. A quote in writing follows, with the fitting days agreed.
  4. We make the drawers, doors and carcasses in our workshop. The materials are moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. The storage is fitted and set level, ready for the first coats and shoes, with the finish sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.

Honest limits

Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. That means:

  • Any work on gas pipes or appliances
  • Making good the walls and ceiling, which is for a plasterer or decorator
  • Moving a gas or electricity meter, which is arranged through your energy supplier

In the neighbourhood around Berry's Green, the largest groups of homes date from between 1945 and 1972 (about 29%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 25%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Flats, leases and landlords

Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Let us know about it when you get in touch.

Many London terraces have been converted into flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, once we have measured the way in.

Questions from Berry's Green

Is parking a problem for fitting in Berry's Green?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.

I live near Chelsfield station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Bromley and the rest of London. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Can the under-stairs storage be painted to match the hall?

Yes. The colour is your choice and is agreed in the quote. We can spray it in the workshop or hand-paint it in your home. Both can be matched to a colour you already have.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, by prior arrangement. Let us know when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.

How long will the fitting take?

How long the fitting takes depends on the shape of the space and the number of drawers and doors, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. The storage is built in our workshop first, so the time in your home is spent fitting. We keep the hallway as clear as we can while we work.

Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?

It is something we deal with all the time. The furniture is scribed to follow the walls and levelled on feet or a plinth, so it sits tight to the room.

What affects the price in Berry's Green

We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. This is what makes the difference:

  • Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • Spray painting or hand painting
  • The width and height of the space
  • The number of doors and drawers

Getting to the room affects the job as well. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections, which the quote allows for. Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit.

Getting in touch

The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. When you contact us, it helps to send:

  • Approximate measurements of the space
  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling

To get a quote, send us a few details through our contact form and tell us a little about the room. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and send you a written quote afterwards.
