Loft storage designed for your room

Loft storage in Berry's Green

Each eaves cupboard is built in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Birch plywood gives the carcasses and drawers their strength, and MDF gives the doors and panels a smooth surface for paint. It’s then spray-painted or hand-painted and fitted in your home in Berry's Green. People normally come to us about a loft room with too many jobs and space under the eaves going to waste; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

An interwar house tends to have truer walls than a Victorian one, though rarely square corners. Much of the housing around Berry's Green is interwar, semi-detached or detached, so we still scribe every piece to the wall. Each piece is levelled on site, so doors, lids and drawers line up.

Our quotes are written in plain words. They say what will be made, what it is made from and how it will be finished, all taken from the design visit.

Why people ask for loft storage in Berry's Green

A sloping ceiling makes a standard wardrobe impossible. Bespoke wardrobes follow the slope. It is a common need in a loft bedroom.

We’re often asked to help with:

  • Unused space in a dormer
  • Boxes and suitcases with no home
  • Boxes piled on loft boards
  • Furniture that can’t get up to the loft

Down House, about 1.3 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk.

What to check before you book

  • A written quote that sets out the job
  • Whether they measure the room themselves
  • Whether the finish is set out in the quote
  • Will the doors close with even gaps?

Where other trades come in

We’d rather be clear about where our work stops:

  • Insulation or ventilation work behind the eaves
  • Building work to turn a loft into a room
  • Anything that needs Building Regulations sign-off

If in doubt, you can message us from the contact page and describe the room before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.

Your questions about loft storage in Berry's Green

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Chelsfield station?

Yes. We cover all of Bromley and the rest of London. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Do you make loft storage for homes in Berry's Green?

Yes. Berry's Green is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Bromley and London. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with some details.

Do you work on Saturdays?

Yes, by prior arrangement. Tell us when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.

Which materials go into your loft storage?

Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish. Both are stable, which matters in a loft room. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.

Do pictures help?

Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. Show anything the furniture has to work around, such as radiators or sockets.

Will the storage fit up my loft stairs?

We make the storage in sections sized for the route. We measure the way up not just the room. That way, even a large wardrobe can reach the loft.

Boards, parts and paint

Birch plywood

Birch plywood is made in layers, which makes it strong and stable. It goes into the carcasses, the shelves and the drawers, and its edge can be left visible or painted.

Hand-painted finish

Hand painting can be done on site once the storage is in. It’s easy to touch up if it gets marked. That suits a room in daily use.

What happens on fitting day

With the carcasses fixed and level, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly. How long fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Interwar houses usually have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, but the route in is still measured, not just the room. Eaves cupboards arrive in sections and are assembled in place.

  1. To begin, get in touch through our contact form; a brief note on the loft and the storage you want is enough.
  2. At the design visit we measure the knee walls and the angle of each slope at more than one point, as they’re rarely even.
  3. A written quote follows, with the design, materials and finish.
  4. In our workshop we build each section from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood to follow the slope.
  5. On fitting day the units are set level and scribed to the slope and the knee wall, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Before fitting day

  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
  • Clear the area where the furniture is going

Ask for a quote

If you know what you want, say so; if you do not, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

Advice

Looking after your furniture

Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after with a little care. A few things help it stay looking good:

  • Clear the knee-wall spaces before the design visit if you can
  • Check the route up to the loft
  • Think about how you will reach into the eaves
  • Plan where the tall end of a wardrobe can go

Keep the ventilation behind the eaves clear. The storage is planned to keep airflow, so leave that space open. It helps prevent damp behind the storage.

Sharp edges and heavy boxes can chip a painted edge. Put tools in a case so they do not knock the paint. Minor chips can be touched up with the matching colour.
