Flats, leases and landlords
We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let. It is made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, with a spray or hand-painted finish.
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations. We can’t give advice on leases, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
How we make wall beds for Yiewsley
A home office that doubles as a guest room is a common request. A wall bed with a desk or shelves beside it lets the room do both, without the bed taking over. We can allow for cables to the desk, though any new sockets are for your electrician. If you are living with storage built around a fold-down bed and a guest room that sits empty most of the time, that is what wall beds are for, made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Fitted furniture in a bedroom has to work with how you use the room. Whatever your home in Yiewsley is like, the first question during the design visit is what the room needs to do. The layout, the doors and the inside follow from that. The finish is spray-painted or hand-painted, in a colour agreed with you.
Everything we agree at the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something isn’t quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Common questions about wall beds
Can you fit furniture in a home close to West Drayton station?
Yes. We cover all of Hillingdon and the rest of London. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Yiewsley?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
How much room do I need in front of a wall bed?
You need clear floor in front of the cabinet for the bed to fold down, on top of the cabinet’s own depth. We measure this at the design visit, so the design works.
How are wall beds priced?
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. The bed size, the cabinet and any storage around it all make a difference. For a design visit, message us from the contact page.
Will you provide a mattress for the bed?
The mattress needs to suit the mechanism by size, depth and weight. We’ll go through those limits at the design visit so you can choose one that works.
Is it possible to add a desk beside the wall bed?
Yes. We often design the bed as part of a wider storage wall with shelves or a desk beside it. We plan it so the bed still has room to come down.
How it is made
Shelves
We size each shelf for its span and load.
Moisture-resistant MDF
On an external wall, moisture-resistant MDF is a sensible choice, with ventilation allowed for.
From workshop to your room
On the morning of the fitting, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. The sections made in our workshop come in next, one at a time. How long the fitting takes depends on the design and how much storage goes around the bed, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Before fitting day, we check the route in along with the room itself, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route. We cover floors and doorways on the way in.
- To begin, message us from the contact page; a brief note on the room and how often guests stay is plenty.
- We visit to measure up, look at the wall and floor and make sure there’s clear space in front to lower the bed.
- A quote in writing follows, covering the cabinet, the materials and the finish.
- We build the cabinet in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- On fitting day the cabinet goes in, the mechanism is fixed securely and the bed is tried out.
- We go through the bed with you; the cabinet has the spray-painted or hand-painted finish you chose.
Before fitting day
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
Ask for a quote
We quote once we have seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and go through the design with you, then send a quote in writing. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. To book a design visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
Advice
Pricing wall beds in Yiewsley
What you pay depends on:
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- How many doors and drawers there are
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. A larger piece means more material and more time. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.
Helping us understand the room
When you contact us, these help most:
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Rough measurements: width, height and depth
A quote begins with a few details from you: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of pictures if you can take them. To send them, use our contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.
Practical tips
Fitted furniture is part of the room, so it is worth looking after. Here are a few tips worth knowing:
- Think about where extra bedding will go
- Give the paint time to cure fully
- Think about how often the bed will be used
- Keep the floor in front clear before lowering the bed
Before you first use the bed, read the mechanism maker’s guidance on lowering and lifting it. Lower it steadily and keep the space in front clear, with children kept well back while it moves.
Check how much floor there is in front of the cabinet. The bed needs room to fold down, so plan where furniture will sit.
