Fitted cupboards designed for your room

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

If you’re likely to move soon and want to take the furniture with you, standalone cupboards may suit you better. Fitted storage is built in for good, and it’s made for this home rather than the next one. How long you’ll stay is worth weighing up. Newer homes often have compact rooms where standard furniture leaves awkward gaps, and fitted furniture uses that space. It can also be planned around boxed-in pipes and risers.

The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. We will talk through what you need inside at the design visit, then set it out in the quote.

How we make fitted cupboards for Beam Park

The carcasses and doors are made from moisture-resistant MDF or birch plywood, chosen for the job each part does. Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which suits shelves and drawer boxes. The finish is either spray painted in our workshop or hand painted, in the colour you choose. We make fitted cupboards from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about space for laundry, cleaning things and boots and making use of an awkward alcove or corner.

A hall in a home built since 2000 is often compact, with several doors leading off it, which leaves little wall for storage. Around Beam Park, many homes were built since 2000, so that’s worth planning for. A shallow cupboard can take coats, shoes and the vacuum cleaner without blocking a door.

A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we have agreed. It sets out the fitted cupboard designed for your room, what it’s made from and how it is finished, and it’s what the workshop builds to.

Honest limits

Before you plan the job, it helps to know what we do not do:

  • Moving gas or electricity meters
  • Moving or servicing a boiler
  • Electrical work inside the cupboard

If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can drop us a line using the contact form and we will give you a straight answer. How a job runs, step by step.

Pricing fitted cupboards in Beam Park

When we put a quote together, we consider:

  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
  • The number of doors and drawers
  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
  • Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish

Access to the room makes a difference too. Several flights of stairs, a small lift or a narrow hall can mean smaller sections and more carrying, which the quote allows for. Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured.

Before the design visit

To give us a picture of the room, it helps to include:

  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • How you want to use the space

It is useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space. To share them, get in touch through our contact form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations. We cannot give advice on leases.

In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, which we check at the measuring visit.

Beam Park homes and fitted cupboards

The biggest shares of homes in the area around Beam Park were built since 2000 (about 43%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 34%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how fitted cupboards are fixed and fitted. About 34% of homes in the streets around Beam Park were built between 1945 and 1972, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Post-war homes often have fewer nooks than older houses, so fitted cupboards add storage that was never built in, with fixings chosen for the wall. Newer homes are more common around Beam Park than across Havering: about 43% date from 2000 onwards, against about 13%, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Newer homes often have stud walls and compact rooms, so fixings and sizes are planned with that in mind.

If you live in a flat close to Dagenham Dock station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in. Close to Beam Valley Country Park? Fitted cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things. For a family home near Newtons Primary School, fitted cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home.

Fitting day, step by step

In older rooms, the furniture typically has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it looks as though it was always there. The time the fitting takes depends on the number of cupboards and the space they fit into, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In a newer development, the lift, the concierge and set working hours may all need checking, so check them with the managing agent before fitting day. The furniture is built in sections that fit the lift and doorways.

  1. You get in touch with a few details about the space.
  2. We visit, measure and talk through doors, shelves and rails, with a note of anything that must stay reachable.
  3. A written quote is sent to you, setting out the design, materials and finish.
  4. The cupboards are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the cupboards in your home and check every door. They’re set level and scribed to the walls as they go in.

Before we arrive

  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are

Starting with a design visit

Rough sizes are fine at the start. We measure everything properly at the measuring visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, message us from the contact page with some details about the room. You receive a written quote after the visit.

FAQs: fitted cupboards in Beam Park

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Beam Park?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.

Can you make fitted cupboards for a home in Beam Park?

Yes. We cover all of Havering and the rest of London, and Beam Park is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, followed by a quote.

What do you do at the measuring visit?

It’s a chance to measure properly and talk through what you’d like. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, and the written quote comes afterwards.

Can you fit furniture on an external wall?

It can be done with some care: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. Damp treatment isn’t something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.

Can you hide my gas and electricity meters?

Yes. A cupboard can tidy them away without getting in the way of access. Moving them is not our work; that’s for your supplier or an electrician.

How do you get the furniture up the stairs?

The furniture is built in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. That’s why we measure the stairs, lift and doorways at the design visit.
