Fitted cupboards in West Hendon: what you get

Our fitted cupboards are made for homes in West Hendon and all over London. It starts with a design visit, where we measure and talk through what you need, followed by a written quote. Once agreed, we make the cupboards in our workshop and fit them in your home. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the cupboards and the room, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. We make fitted cupboards from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are a linen cupboard on the landing and hiding meters and a fuse board neatly.

A hall in a home built since 2000 is often compact, with several doors leading off it, so there may be only one useful stretch of wall. Around West Hendon, many homes were built since 2000, so that’s worth planning for. A shallow cupboard can take coats, shoes and the vacuum cleaner without blocking a door.

Everything we agree at the measuring visit goes into the written quote: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it’s easier before the furniture is made.

Your questions about fitted cupboards in West Hendon

How do you fit fitted cupboards in a flat in West Hendon?

We measure the route in not just the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Fitted cupboards are made at our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.

Can you make fitted cupboards for a home in West Hendon?

Yes. We cover all of Barnet and the rest of London, and West Hendon is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.

Will the cupboards fit my uneven walls?

Yes. We scribe each cupboard to follow the wall and levelled with a plinth or adjustable feet. That’s one of the main reasons to choose fitted cupboards in an older house.

Who chooses the colour?

You choose it. The paint colour is agreed with you before anything is painted.

Do you work on Saturdays?

Yes, by arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you contact us.

Should I send pictures?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough sizes. Show anything the furniture has to work around, such as radiators or sockets.

Fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission in a conservation area, as the controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings. Newer homes often have little built-in storage, and their walls are typically plasterboard on studs, so the fixings for fitted cupboards are chosen for the board.

When you need someone else

Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, so these points are worth knowing:

  • Work on a boiler, which is for a Gas Safe engineer
  • Plumbing for washing machines or sinks (your plumber)
  • Plastering, decorating or repairs to the walls

If in doubt, you can get in touch through our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

Materials and parts

  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Birch plywood
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Ventilated doors
  • Adjustable shelves

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

You can put together a flat-pack cupboard yourself, which is a fair point in their favour. Ours takes more planning: a design visit, a quote, making and fitting, and in return the cupboard is built for your home. Rooms in newer homes are often compact, and standard depths can take too much floor, while fitted furniture can be made shallower where space is tight. It can still go to the ceiling.

There is no price list, because every piece is designed for one room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a written quote, with the materials and finish set out. To arrange a design visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

Why choose us

  • We visit, measure and go through the design before we quote
  • More than 300 projects completed
  • Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Designed for the room you have

Take a look at how bespoke compares with ready-made and what to look for in a quote.

When is bespoke worth it?

Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there’s usually a gap left over at the top or at one end. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.

Cost matters, and it’s fair to say so: flat-pack is normally cheaper to buy. Bespoke earns its place where the room is awkward, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.

How fitting works for fitted cupboards

Before anything is fixed, we set the furniture level. Where the floor slopes, we bring the furniture up to level on adjustable feet or a plinth. After that, it’s fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that’s solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Parking at newer developments can be restricted, with private bays or loading areas, so tell us what applies at the design visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

  1. To begin, get in touch through our contact form; a brief note on the space and anything in it that needs access is plenty.
  2. We visit to measure and plan the cupboard so meters, fuse boards and any boiler stay easy to reach. Boiler work itself is for an engineer on the Gas Safe Register.
  3. A written quote follows with the design, materials and finish.
  4. The cupboards are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with the access planned in.
  5. We fit them in your home, scribed to the walls, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
  • Empty the space we’ll be working in
