Beckton Fitted Wardrobes
In Beckton, we design fitted wardrobes around the room you actually have. We design your fitted wardrobe at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.
- No space in front for doors to swing
- Gaps above and around standalone wardrobes
- Storage boxes stacked under the bed

Fitted wardrobes in Beckton
Some bedrooms suit wardrobes that wrap around the bed, with tall cupboards either side and storage bridging over the headboard. Others work around a window, sometimes with a dressing table or a window seat between them. We plan the layout so the room still feels open. We make fitted wardrobes from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and people most often get in touch about an awkward slope in a loft bedroom and a bedroom that never feels tidy.
A large number of homes around Beckton date from 2000 onwards, and newer bedrooms are often compact, with plasterboard walls. Heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor, rather than relying on the board alone. Any built-in cupboard that came with the home can be replaced or extended to match.
The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Off-the-shelf wardrobes come in standard heights and widths, which leaves gaps above and beside them. A fitted wardrobe fills the space wall to wall and up to the ceiling. Big standalone units can dominate a compact room, whereas fitted pieces painted to suit the walls sit back into the space.
Every room is priced on its own, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. You’ll see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.

Questions from Beckton
I live near Woolwich station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Newham and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Beckton?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.
Can you build wardrobes around a bed?
Yes. A common layout is tall cupboards either side of the bed and storage above the headboard. It is planned so there’s room around the bed and the room doesn’t feel enclosed.
Can fitted wardrobes follow a sloping ceiling?
Yes. Sloping ceilings are common in loft conversions. The slope is measured at the design visit and the wardrobe scribed to it on site.
Hinged or sliding doors: which suits my bedroom?
It depends on the room. Hinged doors give full access but need clear space in front, while sliding doors save space but only open part of the wardrobe at a time. We talk through both at the design visit.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and go through the design with you. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and a written quote follows.
How fitting day works
When we arrive on fitting day, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. Next, we carry in the sections made at our workshop. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Stud walls can carry pipes and cables, so we check before drilling, and heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor. Any new sockets or plumbing are for your electrician or plumber.
- You tell us about the room, including any slopes, alcoves or windows.
- A design visit follows, where we measure and agree the layout, with your clothes in mind.
- A written quote follows.
- Once you are happy, the wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, ready for spraying or for hand painting on site.
- We bring them to your home and fit them in place.
Preparing the room
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
Ask for a quote
If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Before and after fitting day
People planning fitted wardrobes often ask about these. They help before and after fitting:
- Mention if the wardrobe will go on an external wall
- Clear the wall where the wardrobes will go before fitting day
- List the things that will not hang, such as jumpers and shoes
- Tell us about the lift and stairs in your block
With sliding doors, vacuum the track now and then so the doors run smoothly. Clear anything that falls into it.
Make sure vents at the top or bottom of the wardrobe aren’t blocked, particularly where the wardrobe meets an outside wall. Look out for a musty smell or spots on clothes.
Flats, conversions and lettings
Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray or hand-painted finish.
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. We choose fixings to suit the wall.
What affects the cost of fitted wardrobes
When we put a quote together, we consider:
- Doors and drawers, and how many
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
Tricky rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. That’s reflected in the quote, written once we’ve measured up.
What we need to know
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. When you contact us, it’s useful to send:
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
A quote begins with a few details from you: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of pictures if you can take them. When you are ready, tell us about the room on our contact form. We will then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.
