Fitted wardrobes for your home in Roxeth
How we make fitted wardrobes for Roxeth
We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood in our workshop. The doors are finished with spray paint in the workshop or painted by hand, in a colour agreed with you. Then we fit them in your home, levelling them on a plinth or adjustable feet. Most enquiries start with space under the eaves going to waste and damp or musty clothes against an external wall; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Many 1930s houses have had a loft conversion, adding a bedroom under a sloping ceiling, and that slope can be used for storage built to the angle. Around Roxeth, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a large part of the housing. Our part starts once the loft has been converted, and the furniture is scribed to the slope and the walls.
A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It describes the fitted wardrobe we have designed for the room, its materials and its finish, and the workshop works from it.

Bedrooms in Roxeth: local notes
About 42% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Roxeth went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 19% before 1919, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Near the centre of Roxeth, Historic England’s list includes The Old Schools (Grade I), about 0.6 miles north-east, and The White Cottage (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles south-east. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, such as fixing into original panelling. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. Many London boroughs run controlled parking zones, and Harrow sets its own rules. If your road in Roxeth falls in a zone, the van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Parking near your home is worth mentioning at the design visit.
Northolt Manor, about 1.9 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. Living in a block of flats near Sudbury Hill Harrow station? Then each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. If you live near Northwick Park, a bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls.

Boards, parts and paint
Plinths and scribe strips
A plinth raises the wardrobe off the floor and takes up any slope. Its height can be set to match the skirting.
Moisture-resistant MDF
Wardrobe doors are large, so stability matters. MDF stays flat and gives a smooth surface for painting.

Is bespoke worth it?
To be fair, modular wardrobe systems are easy to reconfigure. A bespoke interior is planned around your clothes from the start, and adjustable shelves keep some flexibility. Ready-made furniture rarely suits a bay, a box room or a bulkhead over the stairs, and those are common in interwar houses. Fitted furniture is made around them.
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

Common questions about fitted wardrobes
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Roxeth?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Sudbury Hill Harrow station?
Yes, homes across Harrow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Can fitted wardrobes go either side of the bed?
Yes. A common layout is tall cupboards either side of the bed and storage above the headboard. We plan it so the bed fits comfortably and the room still feels open.
What happens at the measuring visit?
We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We also check the walls and floors and note radiators, sockets and other things in the way, then send a quote in writing.
Can I send photos ahead of the visit?
Yes, they help. Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space. To send them, drop us a line using the contact form.
How is the price worked out?
Size, doors and drawers, what goes inside and the finish all affect it. The price comes in a quote in writing after the design visit.
What happens on fitting day
Finishing comes last. With a spray finish from the workshop, there is normally only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Semis and detached houses often have a front path or a side gate, which can make carrying in easier. We measure the path, any steps and the front door as part of the route. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in, and the sections are assembled in place.
