About our fitted wardrobes in Northwick Park

Doors can be hinged or sliding. With hinged doors, you see a full section when you open them, but they need clear space in front to swing. Sliding doors save that space in a narrow room, but only part of the inside is open at any one time. We weigh them up with you at the measuring visit. If you’re living with space under the eaves going to waste and a tight bedroom where doors get in the way, fitted wardrobes made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.

A large number of homes around Northwick Park date from 2000 onwards, and newer bedrooms are often compact, with plasterboard walls. Heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor, rather than relying on the board alone. Any built-in cupboard that came with the home can be replaced or extended to match.

After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Why people ask for fitted wardrobes in Northwick Park

The usual reason is simple: there is not enough storage. Clothes end up on chairs, in boxes under the bed or in another room. A fitted wardrobe uses the full height of the wall, which adds a lot of space without taking more floor.

People usually get in touch with us about needs like these:

  • Wasted space beside the chimney breast
  • Mismatched bedroom furniture
  • A sloping ceiling that is hard to use
  • Wardrobes that are full to bursting

If you live in a period home close to Saint Cuthberts Church, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • How parking will work on your street
  • Will the quote be in writing?
  • Will they visit to measure before quoting?

Our checklist for choosing a carpenter

What it costs

A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:

  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • The width and height of the space
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

What we need to know

What helps most when you first contact us:

  • Rough sizes: width, height and depth
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Examples of the look you are after
  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling

The quote is built from the design visit. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A written quote follows the visit for you to look over. To book one, fill in our short enquiry form.

Common questions about fitted wardrobes

Do you cover homes near Kenton station?

Yes. We cover all of Brent and the rest of London. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Do you make fitted wardrobes for homes in Northwick Park?

Yes. Northwick Park is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Brent and London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with some details.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

We need access, so someone has to let us in. After that, you don’t need to stay in the room.

Will fitted wardrobes get up the stairs to my flat?

Each wardrobe is built in sections that suit the stairs, landings and lift, then assembled in the bedroom. Let us know about any concierge or lift booking rules.

How is the price worked out?

Each room is quoted on its own: the size, what goes inside, the finish and how square the room is all count. The written quote follows the design visit.

Hinged or sliding doors: which suits my bedroom?

The space in front of the wardrobe typically decides it. If a bed or a door is close, sliding doors can make more sense, and in a roomier space hinged doors give easier access. We’ll look at the room with you at the measuring visit.

Where other trades come in

It is worth being clear about where our work stops:

  • Any wiring or new sockets (your electrician handles those)
  • Curing damp, which needs the right specialist
  • Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)

Not sure whether your space suits fitted wardrobes? You can tell us about the room on our contact form and we will tell you before you arrange a visit. How it works.

What it is made from

  • Birch plywood
  • Hinged or sliding doors
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Hanging rails, shelves and drawers

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

Off-the-shelf wardrobes are cheaper to buy and easy to take with you. That’s a real advantage if you’re renting or moving soon. Built-in wardrobes become part of the house, and are planned to suit it. Rooms in newer homes are often compact, and standard depths can take too much floor, whereas fitted pieces can be as shallow as the space needs. It can still go to the ceiling.

Tricky rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. That’s reflected in the quote, written once we’ve measured up.

Why choose us

  • Over 300 projects completed
  • Fitted tight to walls that aren’t straight
  • Built in our workshop and fitted in your home
  • A spray or hand-painted finish

Fitting day, step by step

Once the main sections are fixed in place, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Newer blocks often have concierge desks, entry systems and rules on lift booking, so check them with the managing agent before fitting day. Fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for the lift and doors.

  1. You get in touch and tell us about the bedroom, and we arrange a design visit.
  2. We visit to measure the room and discuss the design. We also look at the way in, in case the sections need to go up narrow stairs.
  3. You receive a written quote setting out the wardrobes, doors and finish, so you can see what’s included.
  4. The wardrobes are built in our workshop, sized to get through your doors and up the stairs.
  5. We fit them in your home, levelled and scribed to the walls.

Preparing the room

  • Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
  • Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings

Getting a quote
