Fitted wardrobes for your home in Harrow Weald
About our fitted wardrobes in Harrow Weald
The inside matters as much as the doors. We plan the mix of long hanging, double hanging, shelves and drawers around your clothes, so coats and dresses have room and shirts don’t waste height. It helps to think about what you wear most before we meet. We make fitted wardrobes from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and people most often get in touch about clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms and several odd pieces where one run of storage would do.
A bedroom in a house from between the wars usually has simpler mouldings than a Victorian one, so fitted furniture can often run neatly to the ceiling. If yours is one of the interwar houses or semis that make up much of the housing around Harrow Weald, high cupboards make a good home for suitcases and spare bedding. Skirting boards are cut around neatly.
Everything we agree at the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it’s easier before the furniture is made.

How fitting day works
In older rooms, the furniture usually has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site. How long fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and your quote sets out the fitting days. In a 1930s house with a converted loft, the stairs to the loft room are often steeper than the main flight, so any section going up there is sized for them. Elsewhere in the house, the route is usually more generous. Each section is assembled and fixed in the room.
- You get in touch and let us know about the room.
- At the design visit we measure the room and agree the layout and doors.
- We send a quote in writing.
- The wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then sprayed if you chose a spray finish.
- The wardrobes are fitted and scribed, with any hand painting done in the room.
- At the end we check each door and drawer with you; fresh paintwork needs gentle handling while it cures.
How to prepare
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
Starting with a design visit
We quote once we have seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and go through the design with you, then send a written quote. We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. To book a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.
Advice
Looking after your furniture
A little care keeps the finish looking good, whether it was spray painted or hand painted. These practical tips help:
- Let us know which walls face outside
- Check the route into your flat, not just the room
- Look at how many long coats and dresses you have
- Clear the wall where the wardrobes will go before fitting day
Doors can settle a little once the wardrobes are filled. Hinges can usually be adjusted to line the doors up again.
Now and then, check that handles and hinges are tight.
What affects the cost of fitted wardrobes
When we put a quote together, we consider:
- Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
- How many doors and drawers there are
- The width and height of the space
- Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
How it is painted is part of the price: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.
What to send when you contact us
A little information at the start saves time later. Where you can, include:
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- How you want to use the space
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
A quote begins with a few details from you: the room, rough sizes and some pictures if you have them. To send them, message us from the contact page. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and discuss the design, then send a written quote.
Questions from Harrow Weald
Do you cover homes near Headstone Lane station?
Yes. We cover all of Harrow and the rest of London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Is Harrow Weald in the area you cover for fitted wardrobes?
Yes, Harrow Weald is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Harrow and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.
How do you get fitted wardrobes into a flat?
We plan the sections around the route into your flat, and the wardrobe is put together in the room. Let us know about any concierge or lift booking rules.
Should I choose hinged or sliding wardrobe doors?
The space in front of the wardrobe usually decides it. If a bed or a door is close, sliding doors can make more sense. We look at it with you when we measure.
What happens when you come to measure?
We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, and the written quote comes afterwards.
What if my bedroom floor is not level?
Uneven floors are normal in older homes. We set fitted wardrobes level on a plinth or adjustable feet and the doors line up.
What else we make in Harrow Weald
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Older homes rarely have straight walls or level floors. Standalone wardrobes may lean or leave uneven gaps against the wall. We set fitted wardrobes level and scribe them to the walls and ceiling. The spaces between doors, windows and radiators are seldom a stock size, so ready-made furniture often ends up in the wrong place. Fitted furniture is designed around them.
The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, and the quote follows.
What you get with us
- Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
- Edges scribed to follow your walls

Flats, conversions and lettings
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations, and that is best sorted before fitting day. We cannot give advice on leases.
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so it is worth raising at the design visit.
