Need loft storage in Barking Riverside?
When you need someone else
Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. That means:
- Insulation or ventilation work behind the eaves
- Approval for structural changes
- Any wiring, which needs an electrician
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and we will give you a straight answer. Our process from visit to fitting.
What it is made from
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Spray-painted finish
- Hand-painted finish
- Birch plywood
- Sloped wardrobe tops
- Eaves doors and drawers
Loft storage in Barking Riverside
Each eaves cupboard is made in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which suits drawer boxes and carcasses, while MDF takes paint well for the doors and panels. It is then spray-painted or hand-painted and fitted in your home in Barking Riverside. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the usual reasons to get in touch are nowhere to store bags and boxes and a boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised.
Newer homes often have plain spaces left as they are: a recess beside the stairs, a gap by a window, an empty cupboard. Around Barking Riverside, many homes were built since 2000, so spaces like that are worth a second look. Drawers and shelves can make use of the full depth.
The quote comes in writing, so there is time to read it properly. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Birch plywood
Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well. It suits carcasses, drawer boxes and shelves. The edge can be left on show or painted.
Spray-painted finish
A spray-painted finish is smooth and even. It is done in our workshop before fitting. The colour is agreed with you.
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
If you only need a few boxes in a boarded loft, standalone shelving may be enough. Bespoke work makes sense in a converted loft room, where the storage is part of the room. We will give you an honest view during the design visit. Separate ready-made pieces can make an open-plan room feel unplanned, while fitted furniture can give the space structure.
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

Storage in Barking Riverside homes: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the area around Barking Riverside were built between 1945 and 1972 (about 56%) and since 2000 (about 37%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. TfL’s red routes have strict stopping rules. If you live on or close to a main road in Barking Riverside, let us know at the measuring visit. We’ll plan where the van can stop. The Ultra Low Emission Zone has covered all of London since it reached the outer boroughs on 29 August 2023. Vans bringing furniture to Barking Riverside fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. Parking and access are planned at the measuring visit.
Close to Mayesbrook Park? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place. If your home is one of the older houses near Christ Church, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using. If you live in a flat close to Barking Riverside station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.

Flats, leases and landlords
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so it is worth raising at the measuring visit.
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Let us know about it when you get in touch.
Your questions about loft storage in Barking Riverside
My home in Barking Riverside is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. Eaves cupboards are made at our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Barking Riverside station?
Yes, homes across Barking and Dagenham and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.
What are your eaves cupboards made from?
The storage is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The carcasses and drawer boxes are birch plywood, which is strong and holds screws well, and MDF takes paint well for the doors and panels. Everything is finished by spray painting or hand painting.
My walls are not straight. Is that a problem?
That is normal in older homes, and it is what scribing is for. We scribe the edges to follow the wall and set the furniture level on adjustable feet or a plinth.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.
How long will the loft storage fitting take?
How long fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Every part is made in our workshop before we arrive. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
How fitting day works
Before anything is fixed, we set the furniture level. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference. Only then is it fixed to the wall, with fixings chosen to suit brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Newer homes often have stud walls, so on fitting day heavy pieces go into the studs or stand on the floor. Floors are protected throughout, as many newer homes have finished floors that mark easily.
- You get in touch and describe the loft room, its slopes and any dormer.
- We visit to measure the slopes and eaves and talk through cupboards, drawers and wardrobes under them.
- Your written quote sets out the storage and the finish.
- The storage is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, cut to the angles we measured.
- On fitting day the units are set level and scribed to the slope and the knee wall, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Before we arrive
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician in advance
- Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Empty the space we will be working in
Starting with a design visit
It’s useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space. To send them over, tell us about the room on our contact form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.
