Loft storage in Castle Green, Barking and Dagenham

In Castle Green, we design loft storage around the room you actually have. We design your eaves cupboard at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.

  • A dormer that is not being used
  • Seasonal things cluttering the loft room
  • Low eaves that nobody can use

Loft storage designed for your room

Loft storage in Castle Green: what you get

Many loft rooms are bedrooms, and storage for clothes is the first need. A wardrobe under the slope, knee-wall drawers and dormer shelves make a complete set. Planned together, they make the room feel ordered. We design them around what you need to store in Castle Green. If your home has boxes piled on loft boards and a new loft conversion that needs storage, eaves cupboards made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish can solve it.

Coats, shoes, bags and the vacuum cleaner all need somewhere to go in a family house. Around Castle Green, where interwar homes, semis and detached houses make up a big part of the housing, well-planned storage by the door or under the stairs can take a lot of it. Meters and fuse boards stay easy to reach.

The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Questions we are often asked

I live near Barking Riverside station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Barking and Dagenham and the rest of London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit.

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Castle Green?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking at the measuring visit, so the day can be planned around it.

How is the furniture painted?

There are two ways to finish it: spray painted or hand painted. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.

What if my walls and floors are out of level?

That is normal in older homes, and it is what scribing is for. Edges are scribed to the wall, and adjustable feet or a plinth bring the furniture up to level.

Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?

It can be done with some care: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. We don’t treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.

How long is the fitting for eaves storage?

The time the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Every part is made in our workshop before we arrive. If you’d like the fitting on a Saturday, that can be arranged.

How fitting works for loft storage

When the fitting is done, we tidy the room and lift the floor protection. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together and answer any questions. How long the fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. A front path or side gate can make the carry from the van simpler. Gates, paths and steps up to the door are part of the route we measure. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in.

  1. To begin, message us from the contact page; a brief note on the loft and the storage you want is enough.
  2. We visit to measure the slopes and eaves and talk through cupboards, drawers and wardrobes under them.
  3. A quote in writing follows, with the design, materials and finish.
  4. The storage is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, cut to the angles we measured.
  5. On fitting day the units are set level and scribed to the slope and the knee wall.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way

How to get a quote

If you already have something in mind, tell us; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.

Tips worth knowing

People planning loft storage often ask about these. They help whatever the room:

  • Think about what will go in each cupboard or drawer
  • Check the route up to the loft
  • Mention any parking rules on your street
  • Plan where the tall end of a wardrobe can go

A soft, damp cloth is the best way to keep the storage clean. Avoid scourers and harsh cleaners. Handles and drawer edges pick up marks first.

Every so often, look at the handles and hinges. Tightening early stops a small looseness getting worse. If something stops working smoothly, fill in our short enquiry form and describe it.

What loft storage can’t fix

We make and fit furniture, and we don’t do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. There are a few other points to bear in mind:

  • Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves
  • Loft conversions, which we do not carry out
  • Anything that needs Building Regulations sign-off

If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can get in touch through our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How it works.

What it’s made from

  • Sloped wardrobe tops
  • Birch plywood
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Eaves doors and drawers
  • Hand-painted finish

What prompts loft storage in Castle Green

A loft room used as an office or guest room often needs storage too. Built-in storage under the slopes keeps the room flexible.

Requests we hear often include:

  • A boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised
  • Boxes and suitcases with no home
  • No wardrobe that fits under the slope
  • Needing storage in a loft office

For families living near Jo Richardson Community School, deep drawers suit the bulky things families collect, from scooters to swimming kit.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • Whether the route into your home has been checked
  • Which parts of the job need an electrician or a plumber
  • Will they visit to measure before quoting?
  • Is it spray painted or hand painted?

Hand-painted finish

Some people prefer a hand-painted finish for its softer look. It can be applied on site, in a colour agreed with you. It can be matched to the room’s woodwork.

Pull-out drawers

Drawers along the knee wall make a neat, low run of storage. The top can act as a shelf. The design visit settles the mix.
