Where other trades come in

Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, so these points are worth knowing:

  • Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves
  • Structural changes, like cutting into rafters or joists
  • Loft conversions, which we don’t carry out

If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can fill in our short enquiry form and we will give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.

Loft storage in Bromley

Behind an eaves door, there’s often insulation and a need for ventilation. We design the storage so it doesn’t block airflow or crush insulation. If anything looks wrong behind the eaves, it’s worth asking whoever converted the loft. We look at this at the measuring visit in Bromley. We make eaves cupboards from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the usual reasons to get in touch are an empty dormer that could hold shelves and boxes piled on loft boards.

Some homes have eaves, some have bays and some have neither, but almost every home has somewhere storage could go. For a home in Bromley, the design visit is where the options are worked out. Eaves cupboards are then made at our workshop and fitted on site.

The furniture is made in our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Your questions about loft storage in Bromley

Do you cover homes near Bromley South station?

Yes, homes across London are within the area we cover. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.

Is Bromley in the area you cover for loft storage?

Yes. We cover the whole of London, all 32 boroughs and the City of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.

What do you do at the measuring visit?

We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and go through the design with you. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and afterwards we send a written quote.

Do photos help?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, especially with rough sizes. To send them, use our contact form.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, by arrangement. Let us know when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.

Can you fit furniture on an external wall?

It can be done with some care: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. We do not treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.

Fitting day, step by step

In older rooms, the furniture typically has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details. The time the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Parking varies a lot across London, from permit zones to private bays, so tell us what applies during the design visit. If you live in a flat, any lift or building rules are worth checking too.

  1. It starts when you get in touch about storage in your loft.
  2. At the design visit, we look at the slopes, the eaves and the way up.
  3. Your quote sets out the design, the materials and the finish. You can ask us about any of it.
  4. Your storage is built in our workshop, shaped to the loft, from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. The storage is fitted and set level, ready to fill, with the doors and drawers checked with you.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
  • Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through

How to get a quote

To get a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form and let us know which room you have in mind and what you want the furniture to do. We then arrange a design visit to measure and talk through the design, and send you a written quote afterwards.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

Ready-made furniture has to come up the loft stairs in one piece or flat-packed. We make each piece in sections that fit up the stairs. That makes it possible to fit large pieces in a small loft. Off-the-shelf furniture comes in set sizes, and real rooms rarely match them, which leaves gaps at the sides and wasted space on top. Built-in pieces fill the space they’re made for.

How it is painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

Why choose us

  • Made in our workshop, then fitted in your home
  • Saturday visits and fitting by arrangement
  • Work across the whole of London
  • Scribed to uneven walls

How it’s made

Birch plywood

Drawers in the knee wall can carry heavy things, from boxes to bedding. Birch plywood suits them, as it’s strong and holds screws well. It works well for longer shelves too.

Spray-painted finish

Spraying gives a smooth, even surface. We spray in the workshop, so the finish is complete before fitting. The colour is agreed with you.

Fitted storage in Bromley

About 37% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Bromley went up before 1919, and about 23% between 1945 and 1972, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. The Bromley Town Centre Conservation Area is close by, within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of Bromley. Conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If you want to be certain, ask the council’s planning team. The Ultra Low Emission Zone has covered all of London since it reached the outer boroughs on 29 August 2023. Vans bringing furniture to Bromley fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. How the van gets to your door is planned at the design visit.

Near listed buildings like Church of St Peter and St Paul, less than half a mile north of the centre of Bromley, older homes may keep original joinery that eaves cupboards can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent. Living in a block of flats near Bromley South station? Then eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. If you live in a period home close to Church of St Peter and St Paul, sloping ceilings in a loft room suit wardrobes cut to the angle.

Bromley is about 4 miles east of Orpington, within the London Borough of Bromley. Design visits and fitting in Bromley can be on a Saturday, by arrangement. Our work takes in places right across the rest of London, large and small.

In BR2, BR1, BR6 and BR5, the process is the same as anywhere else in London. Streets in the area include High Street, Church Road and St Paul's Square, and we cover homes on all of them for loft storage. Main roads around Bromley include the A222 and A223, and we plan where the van can stop before fitting day. We also cover the places around Bromley: Sundridge (1 mile north-east), Plaistow (1 mile north), Bickley (1 mile east), Widmore (1 mile east) and Downham (2 miles north). Across the rest of the rest of London, our area takes in Orpington (4 miles east), Beckenham (2 miles west), St Mary Cray (4 miles east), Chislehurst (2 miles north-east), Penge (3 miles west) and Anerley (4 miles west).

Flat-pack or bespoke?

Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.

It’s worth being honest about cost: off-the-shelf furniture typically costs less up front. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
