TV and Media Units in Tokyngton
Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. We make TV and media units for homes in Tokyngton, each designed at a visit to your home.
- Speakers muffled behind doors
- Bought furniture that does not suit the room
- Games, controllers and remotes everywhere
TV and media units for your home in Tokyngton
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Most stands have a cable hole or two at the back, but cables usually still show somewhere. We plan the cable routes into the design. In a newer flat, big flat-pack units can be hard to get into the lift or through the door, whereas fitted furniture is made in sections that fit. It is then assembled and fixed in the room.
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.
Why choose us
- Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
- Scribed to uneven walls
- A design visit, then a written quote
- Every London borough and the City of London covered

TV and media units in Tokyngton
Hiding the cables is often the main aim. Cable routes are built into the design from the start, with holes, channels and access panels so leads can be added or changed later. We make the routes, and your electrician handles any wiring. We make TV and media units from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and people most often get in touch about equipment with nowhere proper to go and space for a soundbar and speakers.
A large number of homes around Tokyngton date from 2000 onwards, and newer homes tend to have open-plan living rooms with no chimney breast. So TV and media units often give the room its shape, along a full wall or around the TV. Many internal walls in newer homes are plasterboard on timber or metal studs, so fixings go into the studs or use fixings made for the board.
After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish, so it’s clear what’s included.

Living-room carpentry in Tokyngton: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Tokyngton were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 40%) and since 2000 (about 35%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Near the centre of Tokyngton, Historic England’s list includes Roman Catholic Church of St Joseph (Grade II), about 0.6 miles north-west. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features such as panelling may need listed building consent. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. More than a third of the homes in the streets around Tokyngton (about 40%) date from between 1919 and 1939, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Houses from the 1920s and 1930s often have a bay window and a chimney breast in the front room, and TV and media units are planned around both.
If your home is one of the older houses near St Michael the Archangel, walls that bow and floors that slope are why TV and media units are scribed to fit rather than pushed into place. If you live near St. Raphael's Edible Garden, shelving that stops short of the window keeps the view of the green.

Flats, conversions and lettings
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind.
If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations, and that is best sorted before fitting day. We can’t advise on your lease.
What it costs
To work out the quote, we look at:
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
- Parking near your home
- Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- Doors and drawers, and how many
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size is the starting point. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.
Getting in touch
To give us a picture of the room, it helps to include:
- How you want to use the space
- Rough measurements: width, height and depth
- Where you live, with the postcode
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
To get a quote for TV and media units in Tokyngton, get in touch through our contact form. Tell us which room it is and roughly what you have in mind, plus any rough measurements. We will arrange a design visit, then send a quote in writing.
Fitting day, step by step
There is not much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and it helps to have the room cleared beforehand, as we will have talked about at the measuring visit. After that, it is over to us: the floors are covered, the sections come in and the fitting begins. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the unit and the cable routes planned into it, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Parking at newer developments can be restricted, with private bays or loading areas, so tell us what applies during the design visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
- You get in touch with details of the room and where it is in your home.
- At the design visit we measure the wall and also the hall, stairs and doorways the unit has to pass through.
- A written quote follows, setting out the design, materials and finish.
- The unit is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections that fit the route in.
- The sections are carried in, assembled and set level, ready for your equipment. The finish is sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.
Before fitting day
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
Starting with a design visit
Rough sizes are fine at the start. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, fill in our short enquiry form. The written quote follows the visit.

Questions we’re often asked
I live near Stonebridge Park station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Brent and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with some details about the room.
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can need listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Can a TV unit hold speakers?
Speakers and soundbars get open shelves sized for them. Closed doors muffle sound, so we leave them open.
What if the stairs or lift are small?
The furniture is built in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. At the design visit, we measure the route as well as the room.
What finishes do you offer?
You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.
What prompts TV and media units in Tokyngton
Open-plan living is another reason. Built-in furniture makes that wall look planned.
Here’s what TV and media units can help with:
- A screen at the wrong height
- Wasted space around the screen
- Somewhere to keep games tidy
- A cabinet that traps heat
For a flat near Stonebridge Park station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.
What to check before you book
- A quote in writing that sets out the job
- Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
- Have they thought about parking near you?
- Whether the route into your home has been checked
