TV and media units in Yeading, Hillingdon

Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. Our work on TV and media units in Yeading starts with a design visit, and everything is made at our workshop.

  • Set-top boxes stacked on a stand
  • A cabinet that traps heat
  • Empty alcoves beside the TV

TV and media units designed for your room

Is bespoke worth it?

Standalone TV units cost less and arrive quickly. A stand is also simple to swap when technology moves on. A built-in unit is planned for your room and your equipment. Several standalone pieces of different sizes can make a plain room look busy, while one fitted run looks calm and uses the space better. It is painted in a colour you choose.

Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

Why us?

  • 300+ projects completed
  • Built in our workshop and fitted in your home
  • Work across the whole of London
  • Spray painted or hand painted, in the colour you choose

About our TV and media units in Yeading

Media equipment warms up as it runs, so equipment can’t simply be shut in a closed cupboard. We plan ventilation into the unit, with open backs, gaps or vented doors where they’re needed. Equipment makers often say how much space their boxes need around them. If your home has space for a soundbar and speakers and a TV that looks out of place in the room, TV and media units made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed can solve it.

Rooms from the 1950s and 1960s tend to be plain, with flat walls and simple skirting. Around Yeading, many homes date from between 1945 and the early 1970s, which often leaves TV and media units with clean lines to follow. That lets the furniture set the character of the room, in a paint colour you choose.

If the job needs another trade, like an electrician or a plumber, we’ll tell you. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

How fitting works for TV and media units

Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it looks as though it was always there. How long the fitting takes depends on the length of the TV wall and what it needs to hold, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Post-war houses tend to have simple halls and stairs, so carrying in is rarely difficult. Even so, the route is measured during the design visit. The pieces are assembled, levelled and fixed in place, with floors protected throughout.

  1. You get in touch about a built-in TV unit.
  2. We visit to measure and go through the design and how the unit should look in the room.
  3. A quote in writing follows, with the finish set out.
  4. We build the unit in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood; a spray-painted finish is applied there for a smooth, even surface.
  5. The unit is fitted and scribed to the walls, and any hand painting is done in the room. Go gently with new paintwork while it cures.

Before fitting day

  • Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
  • Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
  • Tell us about parking near your home

Getting a quote

The quote is built from the design visit. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A written quote follows the visit. To arrange the visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

What TV and media units cannot fix

Electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering and structural work are not part of what we do. Please bear these in mind too:

  • Installing aerials, satellite dishes or broadband
  • Repairing plaster or redecorating
  • Structural changes to the wall

If in doubt, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and describe the room. How it works.

Materials and parts

  • Birch plywood
  • Cable routes
  • Ventilated cabinets
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Spray-painted finish

Materials and finishes

Spray-painted finish

A sprayed coat covers edges and corners well. You choose the colour at the design stage.

Shelves

Shelves are sized for the equipment and speakers they carry, with space around for air.

What it costs

A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:

  • Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • The internal fittings
  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room

The finish affects the cost: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

What to send when you get in touch

Getting a few details early makes the visit more useful. Where you can, include:

  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • Approximate measurements of the space
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall

Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, once the room is measured and the design talked through. To arrange a visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

Living-room storage in Yeading

About 45% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Yeading went up between 1945 and 1972, and about 27% between 1973 and 1999, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Near the centre of Yeading, Historic England’s list includes White Hart Public House (Grade II), about 0.5 miles north. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features like panelling can need listed building consent. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. Purpose-built flats are home to about 40% of households in the streets around Yeading, going by Census 2021 figures from the ONS. For a flat, TV and media units are made in sections sized for the stairs, the lift and the doors. Building management rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours are worth checking early.

If your children go to Brookside Primary School or a school nearby, low doors that small hands can open, with books and ornaments higher up, suit a busy family room. For an older house near St Joseph the Worker & Dovetail Centre, the alcoves beside a chimney breast are the natural place for TV and media units. Close to Northala Fields? TV and media units can be planned to frame a window with a view rather than block it.

Common questions about TV and media units

Can you make TV and media units for a home in Yeading?

Yes, we work across Hillingdon, Yeading included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with a few details.

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Yeading?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It is useful to tell us about parking at the design visit.

Can the TV be wall-mounted with a unit around it?

The unit can be planned either way. If the TV is wall-mounted, panels and shelves are arranged around the bracket and cables or we size the top for a TV that stands on it.

How do I get a quote?

It’s easiest to message us from the contact page with some details about the room. After that, we arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

How long will the fitting take?

It depends on the length of the TV wall and what it needs to hold, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. The making happens in our workshop.

What finishes do you offer?

There are two choices: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.
