Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Brunswick Park

A walk-in wardrobe gives your clothes a room of their own. We build them in spare rooms, box rooms and corners of bedrooms, with hanging rails, shelving and drawers planned around what you own. We make it all in our workshop and fit it in your home, scribed to the walls and set level. Most enquiries start with somewhere for shoes to live and a bedroom without crowded wardrobes; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

The front bedroom in many 1920s and 1930s houses sits above a bay, which leaves the side walls for storage and the bay for light. Interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a big part of the housing around Brunswick Park, so it’s a room shape worth planning for. We measure every wall, even where the room looks square.

The furniture is made in our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so every detail can be checked first.

How we price walk-in wardrobes

The price for your room depends on:

  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • How square the room is
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers

How it is painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

What we need to know

What helps most when you first contact us:

  • Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on

A quote begins with a few details from you: the room, rough sizes and some pictures if you have them. When you are ready, use our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, then send a written quote.

When you need someone else

It is useful to know what’s outside our work before you plan:

  • Lease checks, which are for you and your building’s managers
  • Fixing the cause of damp
  • Plastering, decorating or flooring

If in doubt, you can send us a few details through our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

Walk-in wardrobes in Brunswick Park: local notes

Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 60% of the housing in the area around Brunswick Park, with about 13% built between 1945 and 1972, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Detached and semi-detached houses are home to about 48% of households in the neighbourhood around Brunswick Park, based on Census 2021. In a semi or detached house, a driveway, where there is one, can make unloading easier. The Ultra Low Emission Zone has covered all of London since it reached the outer boroughs on 29 August 2023. So any van that delivers or fits furniture in Brunswick Park is covered by it. We plan parking and access with you during the design visit.

For a flat near New Southgate station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day. Close to Friary Park? A bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls. For families living near St Andrew the Apostle Greek Orthodox School, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller.

How fitting day works

If anything comes up on the day, just ask. The design, materials and finish were settled before anything was made, so fitting day is about putting it in place carefully. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Clearing the room and the way in beforehand helps the day run well. On the day, we cover the floors first, then bring the sections in. Each piece is levelled, scribed where the wall wanders and fixed to suit the wall.

  1. You get in touch and tell us about the room and what you want to store. It could be a spare room, a box room or part of a bedroom.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and talk through hanging, shelves and drawers, with shoe storage and a dressing table if you’d like them.
  3. A quote in writing follows, covering the design, materials and finish, for you to read through.
  4. Everything is made and finished in our workshop.
  5. We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.

Before we arrive

  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone

Getting a quote

To get a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form and tell us a little about the room. We then arrange a design visit to measure and go through the design, and send you a quote in writing afterwards.

Advice

Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Brunswick Park

Do you make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Brunswick Park?

Yes, Brunswick Park is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Barnet and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, and then we send a quote.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Brunswick Park?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Who chooses the colour?

You choose it, and it’s agreed with you before painting. Whichever finish you pick, it’s in the colour you’ve chosen.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

Someone needs to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.

Can you fit furniture on an external wall?

It needs a little planning: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. Damp treatment isn’t something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.

How much time does fitting need?

It depends on the room. The time the fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and your quote sets out the fitting days, so you’ll know before we start.

Flats, conversions and lettings

In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Tell us about it when you contact us.

Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, as it makes good use of an awkward room. It is made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well, and it is quick to buy.

If you are handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.
