Walk-in wardrobes for your home in Edgware Bury
Walk-in wardrobes in Edgware Bury
You can have doors, open storage or a mix. Doors keep dust off and give a calm look, and open rails make it quick to find things. We will talk through the options at the measuring visit. If your home has room for a growing wardrobe and a bedroom without crowded wardrobes, that’s what walk-in wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Around Edgware Bury, interwar houses or semi-detached and detached homes make up a good part of the housing. Many 1930s houses have a small box room over the stairs, often with a raised bulkhead in the floor, and the bulkhead is built around rather than ignored. The main bedroom may have a bay at the front and a chimney breast on the side wall.
A quote in writing follows the design visit. It sets out the design we have talked through, the materials and the finish.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Edgware Bury
About 47% of the homes in the area around Edgware Bury went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 34% since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Parking controls in London are set borough by borough, so Barnet has its own. If parking near you is controlled, a visitor permit or a bay suspension may be needed, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. We ask about parking during the design visit, so we can plan the day around it. On TfL’s red routes, the rules on stopping and loading are strict. If your street in Edgware Bury joins a main road, it’s worth telling us during the design visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.
If your children go to Broadfields Primary School or a school nearby, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller. Living in a block of flats near Elstree & Borehamwood station? Then the route in is measured as well as the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. If you live in a period home close to St Andrew, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Standard systems come in set widths and heights, so the space above and at the ends is often wasted. We can build right up to the ceiling and from wall to wall, so very little space goes to waste. Ready-made units come in standard depths that rarely suit every space, which may be too deep for one spot and too shallow for another. With fitted furniture, the depth is chosen for the room.
There’s no price list, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, talk through the design and then quote in writing. To start, use our contact form.

Questions from Edgware Bury
I live near Elstree & Borehamwood station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Barnet and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with a few details about the room.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Edgware Bury?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It is useful to tell us about parking at the design visit.
What happens at the design visit?
We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and discuss the design with you. We’ll also ask about access and parking, and a written quote follows.
Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?
That is normal in older homes, and it is what scribing is for. We scribe the edges to follow the wall and set the furniture level on adjustable feet or a plinth.
Can you build a dressing area in my bedroom?
Yes. We design the units to make a dressing area within the bedroom, while any new walls are for your builder.
Do pictures help?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, such as radiators or sockets.
How fitting day works
When we arrive on fitting day, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. The sections made in our workshop come in next, a piece at a time. How long fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Loft stairs in an interwar house can be tight, with a low ceiling at the top, so pieces for a loft room are sized for the narrowest point. Elsewhere in the house, the route is usually more generous. Each section is assembled and fixed in the room.

How it’s made
Birch plywood
Drawer boxes take daily use and need to be sturdy.
Doors and drawer fronts
We can include a dressing table with drawers where there is space.
Looking after your furniture
New paint needs time to cure fully, so go gently with it for a while. After that, a few simple habits help:
- Plan shoe storage around what you own
- Think about whether you want doors
- Count your coats and long garments
- Leave room for air behind hanging clothes
We adjust doors and drawers as part of the fitting. Houses move a little with the seasons, so hinges allow small adjustments later.
Deal with any damp before the units go in. External walls can be colder and damper, so we allow for ventilation.
Where other trades come in
We make and fit furniture, and we don’t do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. Please bear these in mind too:
- Lighting and wiring, which are for your electrician
- Building a new partition wall
- Getting consent under your lease
If in doubt, you can send us a few details through our contact form and describe the room. Our process from visit to fitting.
