West Norwood Walk-in Wardrobes
Planning walk-in wardrobes for a home in West Norwood? It starts with a design visit to measure and talk through ideas, then a written quote, before anything is made.
- Proper shoe storage
- A side each for a couple
- A bedroom without crowded wardrobes
Walk-in wardrobes designed for your room
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
There is a place for both. In a square room with a tight budget, a ready-made system may be enough. For tricky rooms, period homes or a built-in look, a bespoke design tends to earn its place. Ready-made pieces come with a fixed inside layout, rather than where you need them. With fitted furniture, the inside is planned around what you keep.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension near your home. Let us know about parking at the design visit, so it can be planned.
Why choose us
- Made for your room, not a standard size
- Saturday work by arrangement
- Fitted tight to walls that are not straight
- Built in our workshop and fitted in your home

Walk-in wardrobes in West Norwood: what you get
Some people want doors on everything; others like open shelves and rails. Doors give a tidy, finished look and help keep dust away, while open storage lets you see everything at once. The choice is yours, and we will go through it when we measure. If your home has a walk-in wardrobe within the bedroom and a calmer, clearer bedroom, that is what walk-in wardrobes are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Where housing is mixed, as in much of London, bedrooms range from box rooms to large rooms with bays and sloping ceilings. Walk-in wardrobes can work in any of them, from a small spare room to a main bedroom. Nothing is assumed to be square, so the room is measured carefully.
Once you’ve read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is made at our workshop. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Questions from West Norwood
Can you fit furniture in a home close to West Norwood station?
Yes. We cover all of Lambeth and the rest of London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
How do you fit walk-in wardrobes in a flat in West Norwood?
We measure the route in as well as the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Walk-in wardrobes are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
Someone needs to let us in. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two choices: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. Your quote sets out which you have chosen.
How long does fitting take?
How long fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote.
Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?
Walls and floors that are not true are part of the job in older homes. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so there are no gaps at the sides.
How fitting day works
On the morning of the fitting, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. The sections made in our workshop come in next, a piece at a time. The time the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. If you live in a block, check any rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours; for a house, steps, paths and parking are the things to mention. Either way, the day is planned at the design visit. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
- You let us know about the room.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling at several points, as few rooms are truly square.
- You receive a quote in writing covering the design, materials and finish.
- The units are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the units and trim the edges to meet the walls and ceiling.
- We check everything with you, and fresh paint should be treated gently at first.
Before fitting day
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
How to get a quote
Rough measurements are fine at the start. We measure everything properly at the design visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, use our contact form with a few details about the room. The written quote follows the visit.

What walk-in wardrobes can’t fix
It helps to know what’s outside our work before you plan:
- Making good walls and ceilings
- Advice on your lease
- Structural changes or removing walls
Not sure whether your space suits walk-in wardrobes? You can message us from the contact page and we will tell you before you arrange a visit. How it works.
Materials and parts
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Birch plywood
- Hand-painted finish
- Dressing table
- Hanging, shelves and drawers
- Spray-painted finish
- Shoe storage
Caring for painted furniture
None of this takes much effort. Here’s what we suggest:
- Consider a mix of doors and open shelves
- Have damp sorted before fitting
- Keep the room ventilated
- Think about long versus double hanging
Adjustable shelves can be moved as your clothes change to suit what you store. A seasonal tidy keeps it working well.
Plan any lighting with your electrician in good time. New lights and wiring are for them, and it is easier to plan the units around it from the start.
How it is made
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting gives a softer, traditional look in an older home.
Shelves
High shelves suit things you use less often, with everyday items lower down.
Bedroom storage in West Norwood
In the area around West Norwood, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 38%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 27%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Near the centre of West Norwood, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Luke (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles north-west, and St Luke's Church of England Primary School (Grade II), under half a mile west. For a listed home, works inside that affect its character may need listed building consent from the council, for example removing or fixing into original panelling. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. A quarter or more of the homes in the area around West Norwood (about 27%) were built between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Bedrooms from that era tend to be regular, so fitted furniture can run wall to wall, with fixings chosen for concrete, block or brick.
If you live near Long Meadow, morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they won’t shade the window. For families living near St Luke's Church of England Primary School, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller. Kingswood House, about 0.6 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design.
