Bespoke kitchens for your home in Erith

Bespoke kitchens in Erith: what you get

A larder cupboard can hold more than a run of wall units. A larder can have shelves, deep drawers and racks, sized to what you keep in them. In an alcove or at the end of a run, it can use space that would otherwise be wasted. People usually come to us about a layout for a small or awkward room and a kitchen island with room around it; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

Where housing is mixed, as in much of London, floors, walls and ceilings vary from one home to the next. Every cabinet is levelled and scribed so the lines run straight. The carcasses are moisture-resistant MDF or birch plywood, with the finish agreed in your quote.

We write quotes in plain English. They say what will be made, what it’s made from and how it will be finished.

What affects the cost of bespoke kitchens

Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. The things that affect it are:

  • Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • How big the furniture is
  • Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors

In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. Let us know about parking at the measuring visit, so it can be planned.

Helping us understand the room

The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • Where you live, with the postcode
  • Any ideas or images you’ve saved
  • Rough measurements: width, height and depth

It helps to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space, along with rough sizes. To send them over, drop us a line using the contact form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.

Boards, parts and paint

Spray-painted finish

With a spray finish, the painting is done in the workshop, which keeps work in your home to fitting.

Doors and drawer fronts

We make doors in a style that suits the house and paint them to your choice.

Flat-pack or bespoke?

Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.

A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.

Made-to-measure kitchens in Erith

About 26% of the homes in the streets around Erith went up before 1919, and about 22% between 1973 and 1999, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how kitchens are fixed and fitted. Near the centre of Erith, Historic England’s list includes Christ Church (Grade II*), under half a mile east, and Parish Church of St John the Baptish (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles north. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, such as fixing into original panelling. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. Where a home in Erith is on or beside a main road, it is useful to mention that at the design visit. We will plan where the van can stop.

Living in a block of flats near Erith station? Then the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. Close to Wildspace Conservation Park? A tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design.

How fitting day works

In older rooms, the furniture normally has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. If you live in a block, check any rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours; if you live in a house, let us know about steps, paths and parking. Either way, the day is planned during the design visit. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch and describe the kitchen you want.
  2. At the design visit we plan the kitchen and talk about colours and finish.
  3. A quote in writing follows, with the finish agreed.
  4. We make the kitchen in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF, which suits kitchens and takes paint well, and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the cabinets in your home; a hand-painted finish is applied on site and is easy to touch up later.
  6. Plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician; new paintwork needs gentle use while it cures.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
  • Empty the space we’ll be working in
  • Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture

Getting a quote

Getting a quote starts with a few details: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of photos if you can take them. When you are ready, get in touch through our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and discuss the design, then send a written quote.

Do you need bespoke kitchens in Erith?

Many people come to us because a standard kitchen doesn’t suit their room. Off-the-shelf cabinets come in set widths, leaving gaps at the ends and above. Bespoke cabinets are built to the real sizes instead.

Here’s what bespoke kitchens can help with:

  • A layout for a small or awkward room
  • A larder for food and small appliances
  • Spaces sized for your oven and fridge
  • Cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls

Hall Place and Gardens, about 2.3 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.

Questions to ask before you hire anyone

  • Can you see real work of theirs?
  • Have they thought about parking near you?
  • How doors and drawers are fitted
  • Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?

Common questions about bespoke kitchens

I live near Erith station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Bexley and the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with a few details about the room.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Erith?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.

How much does a bespoke kitchen cost?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Every kitchen is different, so we price it after the design visit. To get started, message us from the contact page.

Does my lease affect fitted furniture?

Possibly. Leases vary, and some need consent for alterations. We cannot give advice on your lease.

Can you fit a kitchen in a room with uneven walls?

Yes, it’s something we deal with all the time. Few walls in a period house are straight, so every cabinet is scribed and levelled.

Do you supply the worktop and appliances?

The cabinets are designed for the worktop, sink and appliances you have picked. It helps to choose them before the design is final, and the quote confirms what’s included.
