Kitchens in Finsbury Park homes
Homes built before 1919 make up about 53% of the housing in the streets around Finsbury Park, with about 20% built since 2000, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. The Brownswood Conservation Area is close by, within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of Finsbury Park. Being in a conservation area mainly affects changes to the outside of a building, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Your council can advise if you’re unsure. Red routes are run by TfL, with tight limits on where and when vehicles can stop. If your home is on or just off a main road, it helps to mention it. We’ll plan where the van can stop.
If your home is one of the older houses near St John the Evangelist, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout. For a family home near Stroud Green Primary School, a tall cupboard by the door can take school bags and coats as part of the kitchen.
Finsbury Park is about 3 miles north-east of Tottenham, in the London Borough of Haringey. Whether your home in Finsbury Park is a terraced house, a flat or a newer build, we measure the room as it is and design around it. We list Finsbury Park among 23 places we cover in Haringey.
Every address in N4, N7 and N5 is within our area for bespoke kitchens. You’ll find streets here like Prah Road, Swan Lane and Moray Road, and homes on each of them are within our area for bespoke kitchens. Finsbury Park is near the A1201, so if your home is on a main road, mention it when you get in touch. Other places close to Finsbury Park include Stroud Green (1 mile north-west), Nag's Head (1 mile south-west), Holloway (1 mile south-west), Crouch End (1 mile north-west) and Upper Holloway (1 mile west). Across the rest of Haringey, our area takes in Tottenham (3 miles north-east), Noel Park (2 miles north), Wood Green (2 miles north), Tottenham Green (2 miles north-east), South Tottenham (2 miles north-east) and Seven Sisters (2 miles north-east).

Bespoke kitchens in Finsbury Park: what you get
Many people want a tall larder for food, tins and small appliances. A larder can have shelves, deep drawers and racks, planned around what you store. In an alcove or at the end of a run, it can use space that would otherwise be wasted. Most enquiries start with making the most of a galley kitchen and cabinets built around the appliances you choose, and the answer is made at our workshop from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
Sash windows and back doors to the garden are common in older kitchens. With a large share of the homes around Finsbury Park built before 1919, the layout is drawn around those fixed points. The sink position is agreed with your plumber. You choose the worktop, sink and appliances.
A written quote is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It describes the kitchen we have designed for the room, its materials and its finish.

Flats, conversions and lettings
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Tell us about them at the design visit, so fitting day is planned around them.
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, after measuring the route at the measuring visit.

Questions we are often asked
My house in Finsbury Park is Victorian. Can you deal with uneven walls?
Yes, that’s normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. We also work around skirting boards, picture rails and cornices. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.
I live near Finsbury Park station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Haringey and the rest of London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
How much does a bespoke kitchen cost?
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. The size of the room, the number of units and the finish all make a difference. For a design visit, send us a few details through our contact form.
How do you get the furniture up the stairs?
It is made in sections. At the design visit, we measure the route not just the room.
Can I send photos ahead of the visit?
Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, particularly with rough measurements. You can send them when you send us a few details through our contact form.
Do I need the building owner’s consent?
Possibly. Leases vary, and some need consent for alterations. We cannot give advice on your lease.
Materials and finishes
Doors and drawer fronts
The style of the doors sets the tone of the kitchen, whether plain or framed.
Birch plywood
Kitchen drawers carry heavy pans and plates, and birch plywood suits them.
The problems bespoke kitchens solve
An extension or a knocked-through room is a common starting point. A new layout deserves a kitchen designed for it. The building work itself is for your builder.
If you recognise any of these, it’s worth talking to us:
- Spaces sized for your oven and fridge
- A pantry cupboard with shelves and drawers
- Spray-painted or hand-painted cabinets
- Room for everything in the kitchen
If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Engine House of Metropolitan Water Board, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent.
Before you choose who makes it
- Whether you will get a written quote, not just a figure
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote
- Have they thought about parking near you?
- Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that are not square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths, and standard units leave gaps.
Cost matters, and it is fair to say so: flat-pack is normally cheaper to buy. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
How fitting works for bespoke kitchens
Before anything is fixed, we set the furniture level. Where the floor slopes, we bring the furniture up to level on adjustable feet or a plinth, and that keeps the doors and shelves true. After that, it is fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that is solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Original hallway tiles and old floorboards are worth protecting, so they’re covered before anything comes in. Fixings into older walls are made carefully, as lath and plaster can crack if treated roughly. Decorating around the furniture afterwards is for your decorator.
- We start with how you cook and what the kitchen needs to hold.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the layout.
- We send a quote in writing setting out the cabinets, materials and finish, ready for you to check.
- The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are made at our workshop. The materials are moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- Fitting day: we fit the cabinets, and your plumber, electrician and a Gas Safe engineer handle the services. We do not arrange these trades ourselves.
Preparing the room
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
Arranging a design visit
The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. Afterwards, we send a written quote. To book one, message us from the contact page.
