How we make bespoke kitchens for Tottenham

A kitchen needs other trades as well as a carpenter. Your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics, and we plan the cabinets around where their work goes. We make kitchens from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about room for everything in the kitchen and a pantry cupboard with shelves and drawers.

A kitchen gets more use than any other room, so the inside of the cabinets matters as much as the outside. In Tottenham, as anywhere in London, we talk through how you use the kitchen at the design visit. Pan drawers, a larder and somewhere for the recycling are planned in early. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.

The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. The finish is stated too, whether that’s spray painting or hand painting.

Looking after your furniture

New paint needs time to cure fully, so treat it gently at first. Beyond that, these tips help:

  • Know your appliance sizes early
  • Allow space to walk round an island
  • Check stairs, hallways and lifts for access
  • Treat new paintwork gently at first

If a hand-painted door gets a chip, it can be touched in. A spray finish gives a smooth, even surface that wipes clean. Keep a note of the paint colours.

Damp walls should be dealt with before cabinets are fitted. Cabinets against a damp wall can trap moisture, particularly on a colder external wall.

From workshop to your room

Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site, so it sits neatly against the room. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Before fitting day, we check the route in along with the room itself, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route. We cover floors and doorways on the way in.

  1. We start with how you use the kitchen and what is not working. It helps to know the worktop, sink and appliances you have in mind.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and talk through the layout, storage and finish.
  3. We send a quote that sets out the design, materials and finish.
  4. The units are made and finished in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician handle the plumbing, gas and electrics.

Getting ready for fitting day

Is it time for bespoke kitchens?

Often the call comes after building work has opened up the space. A new room needs a kitchen planned for its shape and light, and building work itself is for your builder.

Common reasons to get in touch include:

  • Tall larder storage
  • More storage in a small kitchen
  • A kitchen finished in your colours
  • A painted dresser for the kitchen

Living in a block of flats near Bruce Grove station? Then each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.

What to check before you book

  • How they deal with uneven walls and floors
  • Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
  • Whether they measure the room themselves
  • Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done

Tottenham homes and bespoke kitchens

About 39% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Tottenham went up before 1919, and about 19% since 2000, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. There are 46 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Tottenham. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and kitchens can be designed to work around them. Controlled parking zones are common across London, and Haringey sets its own rules. If your road in Tottenham falls in a zone, the van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Parking near your home is worth mentioning at the measuring visit.

If you live near Bruce Castle Park, a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design. For families living near The Mulberry Primary School, planning a kitchen around family routines, with a place for school things, pays off.

How we price bespoke kitchens

What it costs comes down to the materials and the time involved. That depends on:

  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted

Rooms that are not square take more work: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it, written once we have measured up.

Before the design visit

Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:

  • The type of home and how the room is reached
  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • Approximate measurements of the space
  • Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters

It helps to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them give us a good feel for the space, along with rough sizes. To send them over, drop us a line using the contact form, and we will arrange a design visit.

Honest limits

Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. That means:

  • Making good walls and ceilings
  • Plumbing, which is for your plumber
  • Any work on the gas supply

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in Tottenham

I live near Bruce Grove station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Haringey and the rest of London. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

My home in Tottenham is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?

At the design visit, we measure the way in as well as the room. Kitchens are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.

How long does fitting take?

It depends on the kitchen. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote, so you can plan your other trades around it.

How are bespoke kitchens priced?

The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. The size of the room, the number of units and the finish all make a difference. To arrange a design visit, drop us a line using the contact form.

Can you build an island in my kitchen?

If the room is big enough, yes. At the design visit we check the clearances around it. If it would crowd the kitchen, we’ll say so.

How is the furniture painted?

You can choose between two finishes: spray painted or hand painted. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
