Bespoke kitchens designed for your room

Is bespoke worth it?

Standard cabinets come in set widths, so the room has to fit the units. Ours are made to fit the room from wall to wall. In a newer flat, big flat-pack units can be hard to get into the lift or through the door, whereas fitted furniture is made in sections that fit. It’s then assembled and fixed in the room.

The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. We’ll talk through what you need inside during the design visit.

Why us?

  • We visit, measure and go through the design before we quote
  • Made in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Spray painted or hand painted, in the colour you choose
  • Edges scribed to follow your walls

How we make bespoke kitchens for Hornchurch Marshes

We often use moisture-resistant MDF in kitchens, because it stays stable and takes paint beautifully. For drawer boxes and shelves, birch plywood is a good choice. The finish is spray painted in our workshop or hand painted, in colours agreed with you. People usually come to us about cabinets built around the appliances you choose and spray-painted or hand-painted cabinets; the furniture is made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

In many homes built since 2000, the kitchen runs along one wall of the living space. Around Hornchurch Marshes, many homes date from 2000 onwards, and a run like that works harder with tall cupboards taken to the ceiling. The worktop, sink and appliances are your choice, built into a run made for the wall.

Once you have read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is made at our workshop. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Common questions about bespoke kitchens

I live near Dagenham Dock station. Is that in your area?

Yes, homes across Havering and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Is parking a problem for fitting in Hornchurch Marshes?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Is there room for an island in my kitchen?

If there’s enough room, yes. There has to be comfortable space on every side, and we measure for it at the design visit. In a narrow kitchen, a longer run or a peninsula may suit better.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Let us know when you first get in touch, and we’ll see what we can do.

How long does fitting take?

How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days.

Can you fit cabinets to walls that are not straight?

Yes. Each cabinet is trimmed to the wall and levelled, to give a level line for the worktop. It’s one of the main reasons people choose bespoke in an older house.

Honest limits

It is worth being clear about where our work stops:

  • Any work on the gas supply
  • Wiring for appliances and lights
  • Knocking through or rebuilding walls

If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can fill in our short enquiry form and we will give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How it works.

What goes into it

  • Islands where space allows
  • Birch plywood
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Larders and dressers
  • Hand-painted finish

How fitting works for bespoke kitchens

Finishing comes last. With a spray finish from the workshop, there is usually only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that is what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Before fixing into a stud wall, we check for pipes and cables, and heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor. Any new sockets or plumbing are for your electrician or plumber.

  1. You get in touch with a few details about the kitchen. Say a little about the way you cook.
  2. The design visit covers measuring and planning the layout, where space allows.
  3. You receive a quote in writing.
  4. The kitchen is built in our workshop.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics. It’s useful to have those trades booked in good time.

Preparing the room

  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall

Starting with a design visit

If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you do not, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.

Tips worth knowing

A little care keeps the finish looking good. These practical tips help:

  • Treat new paintwork gently at first
  • Check there is room around an island before planning one
  • Talk to your other trades in good time
  • Know your appliance sizes early

Wipe up spills and splashes promptly, particularly near the sink. Even moisture-resistant materials last better when kept dry.

Leasehold flats can have rules about alterations, so check your lease early. We cannot advise on your lease.
