Kitchens in Dagenham Green homes

In the neighbourhood around Dagenham Green, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 69%) and the years since 2000 (about 15%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. The ULEZ, run by TfL, takes in all of London, so Barking and Dagenham is inside it. So any van that delivers or fits furniture in Dagenham Green is covered by it. We go through parking and access during the design visit. TfL’s red routes have strict stopping rules. If you live on or close to a main road in Dagenham Green, let us know at the design visit. We’ll plan where the van can stop.

If you live near Parsloes Park, a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design. Rainham Hall, about 1.9 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. For families living near Marsh Green Primary School, a tall cupboard by the door can take school bags and coats as part of the kitchen.

Bespoke kitchens in Dagenham Green

A dresser brings a traditional feel to a kitchen, and it suits many period homes. We make dressers to fit the wall they stand against, scribed to follow it and painted to suit the room. People typically come to us about a kitchen finished in your colours and cabinets built around the appliances you choose; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.

Around Dagenham Green, interwar houses or semi-detached and detached homes make up a good part of the housing. Many 1930s houses started with a small kitchen at the back that has since been extended or knocked through. The cabinets are designed for the room as it is today, with an island where space allows.

The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and talk it over at home. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

How we price bespoke kitchens

Not every room costs the same, and it comes down to:

  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted
  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • How square the room is

Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. A larger piece means more material and more time. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.

Before the design visit

When you contact us, these help most:

  • Rough measurements: width, height and depth
  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
  • Any ideas or images you have saved
  • Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift

Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, when we’ve measured up and talked through the design. For a quote, fill in our short enquiry form.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Dagenham Green

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Dagenham Green?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.

Do you make bespoke kitchens for homes in Dagenham Green?

Yes. Dagenham Green is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Barking and Dagenham and London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with some details.

Do you work on Saturdays?

Yes, by prior arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you get in touch.

Do you do the plumbing and electrics?

No. We make and fit the kitchen cabinets. Plumbing is done by your plumber, gas by a Gas Safe engineer and electrics by your electrician, and we plan the cabinets around their work.

How long will the kitchen take to fit?

The time the fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. We will talk it through at the design visit.

Do you supply the worktop and appliances?

You choose the worktop, sink and appliances, and we design the cabinets around them. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Mention it when you contact us.

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let, as it makes good use of an tricky room. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, finished by spray or by hand.

Is bespoke worth it?

Ready-made cabinets often have chipboard carcasses. Ours are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then spray or hand painted, finished to suit the room. Off-the-shelf furniture comes in a few set depths, which may be too deep for one spot and too shallow for another. Fitted furniture is made to the depth the space can take.

Tricky rooms take more time: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. The quote allows for it, written once we’ve measured up.

How fitting works for bespoke kitchens

With the carcasses fixed and level, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly, then checked again. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Clearing the room and the way in beforehand helps the day run well. Fitting day starts with protecting the floors and setting out the pieces. Each piece is levelled, scribed where the wall wanders and fixed to suit the wall.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about the room and how you cook. It’s useful to know the worktop, sink and appliances you have in mind.
  2. We come to measure up and plan the layout with you.
  3. You get a quote in writing for the cabinets, with the materials and finish set out, for you to read through.
  4. The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician handle the plumbing, gas and electrics. We don’t arrange those trades, so it helps to book them early.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Empty the space we will be working in
  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
