Before you plan the job, it is useful to know what we do not do:
- Gas work, which is for a Gas Safe registered engineer
- Making good walls and ceilings
- Plumbing, which is for your plumber
If in doubt, you can get in touch through our contact form and describe the room. Our process from visit to fitting.

Bespoke kitchens in Tolworth
Many people want a tall larder for food, tins and small appliances. We can build larders with shelves, drawers or racks inside the doors, sized to what you keep in them. Built into an alcove or the end of a wall, it puts awkward space to work. We make kitchens from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are extra cupboard space and a layout for a small or awkward room.
A larger semi or detached house may have room for a utility area or boot room by the back door. Around Tolworth, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a big part of the housing. Tall cupboards for the washing machine, coats and cleaning things can be made to match the kitchen. Plumbing for any appliance is for your plumber.
A written quote is the clearest record of what we have agreed. It sets out the kitchen designed for your room, what it is made from and how it is finished, and the workshop works from it.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Tolworth
Do you cover homes near Tolworth station?
Yes, homes across Kingston upon Thames and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can use our contact form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Tolworth?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking at the measuring visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Do you do the plumbing and electrics?
No. We make and fit the kitchen cabinets. Your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics, and we design around where their work goes.
Should I send pictures?
Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, particularly with rough measurements. To send them, message us from the contact page.
How are bespoke kitchens priced?
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Size, layout and finish all affect the price. For a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.
Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Choosing bespoke means a design visit, a quote, workshop time and fitting, rather than ordering from a range. In return, the storage, layout and finish are designed for you. Walls in interwar houses are straighter than in older ones, but rarely perfect, and standalone units can lean or gap. Built-in pieces are adjusted to the room on site.
The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, then set it out in the quote.

Looking after your furniture
Fitted furniture is part of the room, so it’s worth looking after. Here are a few tips worth knowing:
- Line up your plumber, electrician and Gas Safe registered engineer early
- Deal with damp walls first
- Give the paint time to cure fully
- Measure the route into the kitchen
Doors are hung and adjusted when we fit them. Houses move a little with the seasons, so hinges allow small adjustments later.
Line up your other trades in good time. Their work and ours need to fit together, and it is easier when everyone works from the same design.
Tolworth homes and bespoke kitchens
About 75% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Tolworth went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 8% since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. If your home is on or just off a main road, it is useful to mention it. We can then plan where the van will stop. Many London boroughs run controlled parking zones, and Kingston upon Thames sets its own rules. If your street in Tolworth is in a controlled parking zone, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension through the council may be needed. It helps to let us know about parking at the design visit.
Fitznells Manor, about 2.5 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout. For a family home near Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School, a kitchen with a spot for school letters and lunch boxes makes mornings easier. Living in a block of flats near Tolworth station? Then kitchens are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.
Tolworth is about 2 miles north of Kingston upon Thames, in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. Our work covers every London borough and the City of London, Tolworth included. We list Tolworth among 16 places we cover in Kingston upon Thames.

How fitting works for bespoke kitchens
The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there’s usually only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Hand-painted furniture can be finished on site; spray-painted pieces arrive finished from the workshop. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.
- We start with how you cook and what the kitchen needs to hold. Larders, dressers and islands can all be part of it, where space allows.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the layout.
- A quote follows, covering the design and finish, ready for you to check.
- We build and finish the kitchen in our workshop.
- We fit the cabinets in your home; plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician. We don’t arrange these trades ourselves.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
- Keep pets in another room while we work
Getting a quote
A quote begins with some details from you: the room, rough measurements and some pictures if you have them. When you are ready, fill in our short enquiry form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and talk through the design, then send a quote in writing.

Could you do it yourself?
A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder.
It is worth being honest about cost: flat-pack is normally cheaper to buy. Bespoke earns its place where the room is awkward, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.
