Fitted furniture across KT3

Our fitted wardrobes across KT3

Fitted wardrobes are built to the room, from the floor to the ceiling and from wall to wall. There’s no dusty gap on top and no tricky space at the ends. For a bedroom in KT3, the first step is a design visit to measure up and discuss the design. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are not enough hanging space and clothes with nowhere proper to go.

When the fitting is done, we tidy the room. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together and explain how to look after the paint. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days.

  1. It starts when you tell us about the room, the floor it is on and the wardrobes you want.
  2. We visit to measure the room and go through the design, and we measure the stairs, landings and doorways too. Tell us about parking as well, as a van typically needs a permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension in much of London.
  3. A written quote follows with the design, materials and finish.
  4. The wardrobes are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections sized for the route we measured.
  5. We carry the sections up, join them in the room and scribe them to the walls and ceiling.

Quotes in KT3

Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

Arranging a design visit

Local landmarks in New Malden

Our area takes in the homes around The Glasshouse pub, Beverley Park and Christ Church New Malden CofE Primary School, among other places. Also close by are New Malden Baptist Church (under half a mile south-west) and Holy Cross School (a few minutes’ walk south). There is a railway station in New Malden itself: New Malden station. Well-known places in the area include Kingston Hospital (1.2 miles north-west) and Bentall Centre (1.9 miles west). Not far away are Rose Walk.

Bedroom storage across KT3

We make fitted wardrobes for homes across KT3, in New Malden, Norbiton and Tolworth and beyond. On an external wall, ventilation is designed in to help keep condensation away. Each wall is checked so the fixings suit it.

In KT3, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 47%) and before 1919 (about 19%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. More than a third of the homes in the KT3 postcode district (about 47%) date from between 1919 and 1939, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Many interwar houses have a small room over the stairs, which suits fitted storage made around its bulkhead. About 48% of households in the KT3 postcode district live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021. A house like that normally has more rooms to plan around than a flat, and sometimes a driveway that makes unloading easier.

KT3 is part of the area we cover, which takes in all 32 boroughs and the City. Let us know about access and parking when you first get in touch.

New Malden: If your home is one of the older houses near New Malden Baptist Church, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design. Near listed buildings like New Malden Library, under half a mile south-east of the centre of New Malden, older homes may keep original joinery that fitted wardrobes can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

Materials and finishes

Birch plywood

Drawers get heavy use, so we often make the boxes from birch plywood.

Spray-painted finish

Spray painting is done in the workshop, giving a smooth, even surface on large doors. It works on plain and panelled doors alike.

Pricing fitted wardrobes in KT3

Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. These are the things that affect it:

  • How square the room is
  • Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • How many doors and drawers there are

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

Helping us understand the room

Here’s what helps us most when you contact us:

  • Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • Where you live, with the postcode
  • How you want to use the space

To make a start, send us a few details through our contact form and tell us which room you have in mind and what you want the furniture to do. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and send you a quote in writing afterwards.

Do you need fitted wardrobes?

A move is a common trigger. Standalone wardrobes from a previous home may not fit the new bedroom. Built-in wardrobes are planned for the room you live in now.

We’re often asked to help with:

  • A tight bedroom where doors get in the way
  • Damp or musty clothes against an external wall
  • A bedroom that never feels tidy
  • Clothes with nowhere proper to go

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let, often to make the most of a small or tricky room. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray or hand-painted finish.

If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, unloading takes some planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so let us know about it at the design visit.

Could you do it yourself?

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

If you’re handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder.

Questions from KT3

Can you fit wardrobes under a sloping ceiling?

Yes. Many loft rooms have sloping ceilings and fitted storage suits them well. We measure the slope carefully during the design visit and scribe the wardrobe to it.

Can you fit wardrobes in a top-floor flat?

We make the wardrobes in sections sized to the route into your home. We measure the stairs, landings and lift as well as the bedroom. In a leasehold flat, it’s worth checking the lease first.

Where is the furniture made?

We make it in our workshop, to the sizes taken at the measuring visit. Then we bring it to your home and fit it.

Can a fitted wardrobe go against a cold wall?

Yes. We plan ventilation behind and inside wardrobes on external walls, in moisture-resistant MDF. If there’s damp on the wall already, it should be sorted first.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

Someone needs to let us in. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

Can I choose the layout inside the wardrobe?

We plan it with you during the design visit, starting from the clothes you have. Some shelves can be adjustable so the layout can change.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, by arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you get in touch.
