How we make fitted wardrobes for Limmo Peninsula
Doors can be hinged or sliding. With hinged doors, you see a full section when you open them, but they need clear space in front to swing. Sliding doors save that space in a narrow room, although only part of the wardrobe is open at a time. Which suits your room is something we talk through when we visit. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the things people most often want solved are musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall and an awkward slope in a loft bedroom.
Many newer homes have tall windows or full-height glazing in the bedroom, so the remaining walls have to work harder. Many homes around Limmo Peninsula were built since 2000, so we make the most of the walls you have. Corners are designed in rather than left as dead space.
The furniture is made in our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Limmo Peninsula
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Limmo Peninsula were built since 2000 (about 72%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 12%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Near the centre of Limmo Peninsula, Historic England’s list includes Trinity House Chain Locker and Lighthouse Block (Grade II), less than half a mile south, and Church of St Luke (Grade II), less than half a mile east. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for instance removing original joinery or fixing into it, may need listed building consent from the council. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. Purpose-built flats are more common around Limmo Peninsula than across Newham: about 81% of households, against about 44%, the 2021 Census shows. So the route in, from stairs to lifts, is part of the design.
For a flat near Custom House station, the route in is measured not just the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. For families living near St Luke's Primary School, fitted wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow. If you live in a period home close to Church of St Luke, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice.
Limmo Peninsula is within the London Borough of Newham, about 1 mile north-east of Plaistow. We cover Limmo Peninsula as part of our work across Newham, and the process is the same everywhere we work. Limmo Peninsula is one of the places in Newham where we make fitted wardrobes.

We also cover Leamouth (1 mile west), Blackwall (1 mile south-west), Canning Town (1 mile east), Coldharbour (1 mile south-west) and West Silvertown (1 mile south-east). Across the rest of Newham, our area takes in Stratford (2 miles north), Forest Gate (3 miles north), East Ham (2 miles north-east), Upton Park (2 miles north-east), Maryland (2 miles north) and Upton (2 miles north-east).

Flat-pack or bespoke?
Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that aren’t square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths.
What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
How it is made
Plinths and scribe strips
A plinth raises the wardrobe off the floor and takes up any slope. It can line up with the skirting.
Doors and drawer fronts
Doors can be plain, panelled or shaped to suit the room. They’re painted to match or contrast with the walls.
Honest limits
Not everything around fitted wardrobes is carpentry, like an electrician, a plumber or an engineer on the Gas Safe Register. Here is what to bear in mind:
- The loft conversion itself, which is building work under Building Regulations
- Any wiring or new sockets (your electrician handles those)
- Redecorating around the wardrobes

- Hand-painted finish
- Birch plywood
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Hinged or sliding doors
- Spray-painted finish
What affects the price in Limmo Peninsula
A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:
- The finish: spray painted or hand painted
- The width and height of the space
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- Parking near your home
The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, then set it out in the quote.
What we need to know
Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Where you live, with the postcode
- Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
It’s useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space, especially with rough measurements. To send them over, fill in our short enquiry form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.
How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In a newer home, floors, walls and door frames are often freshly finished, so everything on the way in is covered before the sections arrive. Door frames and corners get covers too. The sections are assembled in the room.
- You tell us about the room, including any slopes, alcoves or windows. A rough sketch of the room helps if you have one.
- We come to measure and talk through hanging heights, doors and drawers, with your clothes in mind.
- A quote in writing follows. It lists what’s inside each wardrobe as well as the doors.
- Once you’re happy, the wardrobes are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The wardrobes are fitted in your home, ready to use.
How to prepare
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
