Fitted home offices for homes in Feltham
Light matters in a home office. A screen facing a window can be hard to read, and a window behind you can cause glare. We plan the desk position with the window in mind, often with the light to one side. We look at it early during the design visit in Feltham. We make home offices from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and the usual reasons to get in touch are a tangle of chargers and leads and wanting to close the door on work at the end of the day.
In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around Feltham, a converted loft can be a quiet place to work, with storage tucked under the slope. For lofts, we work in rooms already converted or boarded. Elsewhere, an alcove beside a chimney breast or a bay can take a desk.
If the job needs another trade, like an electrician or a plumber, we’ll tell you, so it can be arranged before fitting day. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Fitted home offices in Feltham: local notes
In the area around Feltham, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 36%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 22%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. 3 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of central Feltham. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. If your home in Feltham is on or near a main road, tell us during the design visit. We’ll plan where the van can stop.
If your home is one of the older houses near Christ Church, an alcove beside the chimney breast is often just right for a built-in desk. If you live near Hounslow Heath, a desk facing a window makes the most of the daylight. Near listed buildings like Red Lion Inn, less than half a mile south-east of the centre of Feltham, older homes may keep original joinery that home offices can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent.
Feltham is within the London Borough of Hounslow, about 3 miles north-east of Hounslow. Whether your home in Feltham is a terraced house, a flat or a newer build, we measure the room as it is and design around it. Our work takes in places right across Hounslow.
In TW14 and TW13, the process is the same as anywhere else in London. Streets in the area include High Street, Railway Terrace and Sandycombe Road, and homes on each of them are within our area for fitted home offices. Feltham is near the A244 and B377; on busy main roads, unloading home offices takes a little planning. Neighbouring places we cover for fitted home offices include Bedfont (1 mile west), Hounslow (1 mile south-west), Hatton (1 mile north) and Cranford (2 miles north). Other parts of Hounslow we cover include Hounslow (3 miles north-east), Brentford (6 miles north-east), Isleworth (4 miles north-east), Chiswick (7 miles north-east), Strand-on-the-Green (6 miles north-east) and Woodlands (3 miles north-east). Feltham is one of the larger places we cover in Hounslow.

What affects the cost of fitted home offices
To work out the quote, we look at:
- Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- The overall size of the piece
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
- Doors and drawers, and how many
How it is painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.
Helping us understand the room
Getting a few details early makes the visit more useful. If you can, send:
- Any ideas or images you have saved
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
- A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
We quote once we’ve seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and discuss the design with you, and the written quote comes after. Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.
How fitting works for fitted home offices
In older rooms, the furniture normally has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In a 1930s house with a converted loft, the stairs to the loft room are often steeper than the main flight, so any section going up there is sized for them. Elsewhere in the house, the route is typically more generous. The pieces are joined and fixed once in place.
- To begin, use our contact form; a brief note on the room and your desk set-up is plenty.
- We visit to measure and plan the desk, shelves and storage, and look at where the light falls.
- You receive a quote in writing for the office.
- The office furniture is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with gaps for cables planned in.
- The desk and shelves are fitted, with the cable routes ready for your equipment.
Before fitting day
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand

Advice
Also in Feltham
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. If there is a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Mention it when you contact us.
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them during the design visit, so fitting day is planned around them.
Questions from Feltham
Can you make fitted home offices for a home in Feltham?
Yes. Feltham is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Hounslow and London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Feltham?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to let us know about parking at the design visit.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
How much does a fitted home office cost?
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. The size of the room, the amount of desk, shelving and storage, and the finish all shape the price. To get a quote, drop us a line using the contact form and we will arrange a design visit.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
Do I need permission to fit furniture in a leasehold flat?
Possibly. It depends on your lease, and some require the building owner’s consent for alterations. We can’t give advice on your lease.
Bespoke fitted home offices or ready-made?
Standalone office furniture can move with you, which suits a short stay. Fitted furniture stays put, and it makes more of the room. The right choice depends on how long you plan to stay. Doors, windows and radiators rarely leave a gap that matches a standard width, so ready-made furniture often ends up in the wrong place. Fitted furniture is designed around them.
Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.

How it is made
Shelves
Office shelving often carries heavy loads. How far a shelf spans and what it holds both count. Each shelf is made to stay straight under what you plan to store.
Spray-painted finish
A spray-painted finish works well on every part of the office. It is carried out in the workshop for an even coat. The colour is your choice.
