Window seats designed for your room
FAQs: window seats in Feltham
Can you make window seats for a home in Feltham?
Yes. We cover all of Hounslow and the rest of London, and Feltham is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Feltham station?
Yes, homes across Hounslow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
What materials do you use for window seats?
Our window seats are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then painted. A moisture-resistant grade suits a spot by a window, where condensation can form. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. Tell us when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.
Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?
It needs a little planning: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. Damp treatment isn’t something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.
What finishes do you offer?
You can choose between two finishes: spray painted or hand painted. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
Window seats in Feltham: what you get
Bay windows are common in period homes, and they make a natural place for a seat. A bay is rarely a simple shape, with angled sides and walls that are not quite straight. We measure every face and scribe the seat to follow them, so it sits neatly in the bay without gaps. It is the kind of space where a ready-made bench never quite fits. If you’re living with a ready-made bench that doesn’t fit the bay and a radiator that makes the space hard to use, window seats made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.
An interwar house tends to have truer walls than a Victorian one, though rarely square corners. Around Feltham, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a big part of the housing, so we still scribe every piece to the wall. Lids, doors and drawers are set level on site so they run true.
Our quotes are written in plain words. You will see what will be made, the boards used and the finish.

What happens on fitting day
There is not much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and it helps to have the room cleared beforehand, as we will have talked about during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the window and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. A front path or side gate can make the carry from the van simpler. We measure the path, any steps and the front door as part of the route. Floors are covered from the door to the room, and the sections are assembled in place.
- First we hear about your bay or window and what you’d like, with a note of any radiator or shutters.
- We measure the window, the cill and any radiator or shutters. Then we go through the seat height and storage.
- The design is agreed and a written quote follows.
- Every part is made at our workshop, ready for a spray-painted or hand-painted finish. The materials are moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The seat is fitted, scribed to the walls and checked with you.
Preparing the room
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Let us know about parking near your home
Starting with a design visit
Getting a quote starts with a few details: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of pictures if you can take them. When you are ready, message us from the contact page. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Materials and finishes
Hand-painted finish
A hand-painted finish can be applied once the seat is in place. Marks can be touched in without much trouble. Paint needs time to cure fully, so treat it gently at first.
Birch plywood
Seats take weight every day, so they need to be strong. Birch plywood suits them, as it is strong and holds screws firmly. It’s also good for drawer boxes.
Pricing window seats in Feltham
Not every room costs the same, and it comes down to:
- The finish: spray painted or hand painted
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- Parking and unloading on your street
- The internal fittings
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. We’ll talk through what you need inside during the design visit.
Helping us understand the room
Here’s what helps us most when you contact us:
- How you want to use the space
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
You don’t need exact measurements to get started. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, fill in our short enquiry form with a few details about the room. The written quote follows the visit.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
If you are handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.
The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. Off-the-shelf furniture cannot usually do that in an older room.
Making use of tricky spaces in Feltham
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Feltham were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 36%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 22%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Within a mile of the centre of Feltham, 3 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. About 41% of households in the area around Feltham live in detached or semi-detached houses, the 2021 Census shows. A house like that typically has more rooms to plan around than a flat, and sometimes a driveway that makes unloading easier.
If you live near Hounslow Heath, window seats can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Red Lion Inn, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent. For a flat near Feltham station, the route in is measured along with the room itself, and the sections are sized to fit it.

What we do not do
We design, make and fit the furniture. That means:
- Plumbing work on the radiator under the window
- Electrical work around the seat
- Fabric covers and cushions
