Bespoke fitted home offices or ready-made?

Bespoke furniture lets the desk, shelves and cupboards be planned together. Ready-made pieces bought separately rarely line up. A single design gives the room clean, consistent lines. Bays, box rooms and stair bulkheads are where off-the-shelf furniture struggles most, and interwar homes often have all three. Built-in pieces are designed to fit them.

There is no price list, because every piece is designed for one room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a quote in writing, naming the materials and finish. To start, get in touch through our contact form.

Why us?

  • We work across all London boroughs
  • Made in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood

About our fitted home offices in Norwood Green

Not every home has a spare room, but a wide landing or a loft room can work. Under a slope, the desk is placed where there’s headroom to sit and stand. On a landing, it has to leave room to walk by. At the design visit in Norwood Green, we will see what fits. If you are living with a laptop that moves from room to room and glare from a window on the screen, that’s what home offices are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

The bay window in a 1930s front room or bedroom gives good daylight for a desk, and storage can run along the walls either side. Around Norwood Green, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a big part of the housing. A desk can follow the shape of the bay or bridge its opening.

Where other trades are needed, for example an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Fitted home offices for homes in Norwood Green

About 34% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Norwood Green went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 23% between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. The National Heritage List records 11 entries within half a mile of the centre of Norwood Green. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. Red routes, run by TfL, have strict rules on stopping and loading. If your home in Norwood Green is on or near a main road, tell us during the design visit. Then we can work out where to load and unload.

If you live in a flat close to Southall station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. Osterley House, about 0.6 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, lath-and-plaster walls need the right fixings for shelves above a desk. Close to Inwood Park? A desk placed to make the most of daylight makes a big difference to a working day.

What it costs

Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. This is what makes the difference:

  • Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
  • Doors and drawers, and how many
  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted

The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. We will talk through what you need inside at the design visit, then set it out in the quote.

What we need to know

Getting a few details early makes the visit more useful. If you can, send:

  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Examples of the look you are after

Pictures help us understand the room before we visit. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space, especially with rough sizes. To send them over, send us a few details through our contact form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.

Looking after your furniture

A few practical points help before and after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:

  • Think about what you’d like on show
  • List the equipment you use, from screens to printers
  • Notice where daylight falls at different times
  • Note the position of sockets in the room

Wiping the desk and fronts with a soft, damp cloth is normally all they need. Dry them afterwards, and avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents. The front edge of the desk picks up marks first.

Keep heavy loads on the shelves meant for them. We size shelves for what you told us they’d carry. Spread heavy books and files evenly.

Fitting day, step by step

If anything comes up on the day, just ask. The design, materials and finish were settled before anything was made, so fitting day is about putting it in place carefully. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Some interwar and suburban streets have driveways, which can make unloading easier, so let us know at the measuring visit. Otherwise, a visitor permit or a nearby bay helps. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.

  1. To begin, use our contact form; a brief note on the room and your desk set-up is plenty.
  2. We visit to measure and plan the desk, shelves and storage, and look at where the light falls.
  3. You receive a quote in writing for the office.
  4. The office furniture is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with gaps for cables planned in.
  5. The desk and shelves are fitted, with the cable routes ready for your equipment.

Before fitting day

  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Empty the space we will be working in
  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day

Starting with a design visit

To get a quote, drop us a line using the contact form and tell us a little about the room and what you want the furniture to do. We then arrange a design visit to measure and talk through the design, and a quote in writing follows.

Boards, parts and paint

Birch plywood

Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well. It suits desks, long shelves and drawer boxes. The edge can be left on show or painted.

Moisture-resistant MDF

Doors and panels are made from moisture-resistant MDF. It holds its shape and takes paint well. Either finish suits it.

Your questions about fitted home offices in Norwood Green

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Norwood Green?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.

I live near Southall station. Is that in your area?

Yes, homes across Hounslow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with some details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Can you add power points to the desk?

We do not do electrical work, so sockets are for your electrician. We design the desk with cable routes and leave room where sockets will go. We can agree where sockets should go when we visit.

How long will the home office fitting take?

How long fitting takes depends on the layout and how many pieces make up the office, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. The office is made in our workshop first, so the time in your home is spent fitting. We work tidily and keep the room as clear as we can.

Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?

There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.

How is a home office priced?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. A simple desk with shelves involves less work than a full wall of cupboards and drawers. We set it all out in a quote in writing.
