About fitted wardrobes in TW7
Rooms under a slope are common in loft conversions and top-floor rooms. A fitted wardrobe can follow the slope, keeping long hanging where there’s height and drawers or shelves lower down. Space that’s hard to use otherwise becomes useful storage. Most enquiries start with a sloping ceiling that’s hard to use and wardrobes that are full to bursting; the furniture is made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Once the main sections are fixed in place, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and the fitting days are set out in your quote.
- You get in touch and tell us about the room.
- We come to measure and go through the design, including the doors and the finish.
- Your written quote follows, setting out the design, materials and finish.
- The wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then sprayed if you chose a spray finish.
- We fit them in your home, scribed to the walls and ceiling; a hand-painted finish is done on site.
- At the end we check each door and drawer with you; fresh paintwork needs gentle handling while it cures.
Quotes in TW7
Getting to the room affects the job as well. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections, which the quote allows for. Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit.

Getting a quote
To make a start, get in touch through our contact form and tell us a little about the room and what you want the furniture to do. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and a quote in writing follows.

Fitted wardrobes across TW7: local notes
In TW7, a spare room often doubles as a study or a guest room. Fitted wardrobes can be planned so the room switches between them, keeping clothes, bedding and everything else out of sight.
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 32% of the housing in the TW7 postcode district, with about 22% built since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. About 32% of homes in TW7 date from between 1919 and 1939, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Many interwar houses have a small room over the stairs, which suits fitted storage made around its bulkhead. 5 of the 12 places in TW7 with their own pages here have their centre inside a conservation area, according to Historic England’s data. The rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission.
Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones run by the boroughs, so a van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit.
Isleworth: If you live near Old Deer Park, fitted wardrobes are usually planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay. Syon House, about 0.9 miles north-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Off-the-shelf wardrobes are cheaper to buy and easy to take with you. That’s a real advantage if you are renting or moving soon. Built-in wardrobes become part of the house, and are planned to suit it.
What to check before you book
- Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work
- Will they visit to measure before quoting?
- Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
- Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
Flats, leases and landlords
Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, as it makes good use of an tricky room. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work.
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, which we check during the design visit.
The problems fitted wardrobes solve
Some bedrooms are hard to furnish. A sloping ceiling, a chimney breast, a low window or a door in the wrong place can defeat standard furniture. We shape fitted wardrobes around those features.
These come up often when people first get in touch:
- Too little room for clothes
- Empty alcoves in the bedroom
- No space in front for doors to swing
- Clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms
Where other trades come in
Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, so these points are worth knowing:
- Moving switches or sockets, which needs an electrician
- Taking out a chimney breast to make space
- Fixing the cause of condensation or damp
What it’s made from
Hanging rails
We place rails at the heights your clothes need: a high rail for long items and double rails for shorter ones.
Doors and drawer fronts
Drawer fronts can sit behind the doors or on the outside, depending on the look you prefer. Internal drawers keep a clean run of doors.
Common questions about fitted wardrobes
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
Should I choose hinged or sliding wardrobe doors?
The space in front of the wardrobe normally decides it. If a bed or a door is close, sliding doors can make more sense, while hinged doors suit rooms with space to open them. We look at it with you when we measure.
Do you cover areas outside London?
No. Our work is in London only: all 32 boroughs and the City of London.
How do I get a quote?
It’s easiest to use our contact form and tell us about the room. We then arrange a design visit, measure up and send a quote in writing.
How is the furniture painted?
You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
What happens when you come to measure?
We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. Access and parking are worth talking about too.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you get in touch.
