Loft Storage in College Park
In College Park, we design loft storage around the room you actually have. We design your eaves cupboard at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.
- No wardrobe that fits under the slope
- Furniture that can’t get up to the loft
- Wasted space behind the knee walls

Loft storage in College Park
Sloping ceilings make standard wardrobes hard to fit. We shape wardrobes to the slope, putting hanging space at the tall end and shelves or drawers where it is low. It uses the full height of the room. The design visit in College Park is where we work it out. People normally come to us about standard furniture that won’t go up the loft stairs and no wardrobe that fits under the slope; the furniture is made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
A Victorian or Edwardian terrace typically has a long, narrow hall leading to the stairs. Around College Park, a large share of homes date from before 1919, so every bit of depth is weighed up when storage is planned. Shallow units keep the way through clear.
A written quote follows the design visit. It sets out the design we have talked through, the materials and the finish.

Looking after your furniture
Fresh paintwork takes a while to cure fully, so go gently with it for a while. Beyond that, these tips help:
- Let us know about parking near your home
- Clear the knee-wall spaces before the design visit if you can
- Choose a calm colour for the loft
- Think about how you will reach into the eaves
Heavy items are best kept in the lower parts of the storage. That keeps the drawers running smoothly. We size the shelves for what you said you’d keep there.
Keep the eaves ventilated and avoid pressing things against the back of the space. Squashed insulation works less well. If you notice damp or condensation behind the eaves, ask whoever converted the loft.
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
With ready-made furniture, the colour is the maker’s choice. Ours is spray-painted or hand-painted in a colour agreed with you, so it sits with the rest of the room. Ready-made units stop well short of a tall period ceiling, wasting space that could hold things you rarely use. Built-in pieces can run to the cornice or the picture rail.
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

FAQs: loft storage in College Park
I live in a flat in College Park. How will the furniture get up the stairs?
We measure the route in as well as the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Eaves cupboards are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
I live near Willesden Junction station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Hammersmith and Fulham and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit.
What do eaves cupboards cost?
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. The mix of cupboards, drawers and wardrobes, and the finish, all play a part. Everything is set out in a quote in writing after the visit.
How is the furniture painted?
You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.
What happens at the design visit?
We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. We will also ask about access and parking, and a quote in writing follows.
How long will the loft storage fitting take?
The time the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Every part is built in our workshop before we arrive. If you’d like the fitting on a Saturday, that can be arranged.
Fitted storage in College Park
About 79% of the homes in the neighbourhood around College Park went up before 1919, and about 8% between 1919 and 1939, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. 5 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of central College Park. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. In inner London, a large part of the street parking sits inside borough-run controlled parking zones. That typically means a van in College Park needs a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council. Tell us what parking is near you at the measuring visit.
For an older house near Saint Mark's, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. For a family home near Kenmont Primary School, a place for each person’s coat and shoes stops the hallway filling up. Leighton House, about 2.6 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk.

What loft storage can’t fix
As carpenters, we leave some work to other trades. These are worth knowing before you plan:
- Insulation or ventilation work behind the eaves
- Altering the structure of the loft
- Converting the loft itself, which is not our work
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we’ll give you a straight answer. How it works.
What goes into it
- Sloped wardrobe tops
- Birch plywood
- Hand-painted finish
- Spray-painted finish
- Eaves doors and drawers
- Moisture-resistant MDF
Flats, conversions and lettings
In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Let us know about it when you get in touch.
We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray or hand-painted finish.
From workshop to your room
The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there’s normally only filling and touching up to do in the room; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. If your hall still has its original tiles or boards, they’re covered before any carrying starts. Drilling into lath and plaster is done with care, so the plaster around stays sound. Decorating around the furniture afterwards is for your decorator.
- You get in touch and describe the loft room, its slopes and any dormer.
- At the design visit we measure the knee walls and the angle of each slope at more than one point, as they’re rarely even.
- A quote in writing follows, with the design, materials and finish.
- The storage is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, cut to the angles we measured.
- On fitting day the units are set level and scribed to the slope and the knee wall, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about parking near your home
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
Ask for a quote
Getting a quote starts with some details: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of pictures if you can take them. To send them, fill in our short enquiry form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, then send a written quote.
