Planning loft storage for a home in Willesden Green? It starts with a design visit to measure and talk through ideas, then a quote in writing, before anything is made.

Flats, conversions and lettings
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. We choose fixings to suit the wall, after checking the walls at the design visit.
For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.
Loft storage for homes in Willesden Green
Our work is in loft rooms that are already converted, or lofts that are boarded. The conversion itself is not our work, and conversions come under Building Regulations. With the room in place, we can plan the storage. In Willesden Green, it all begins with a design visit. Typical reasons to get in touch are wasted space behind the knee walls and a sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
With a large share of homes around Willesden Green built before 1919, under-stairs cupboards in older terraces often house the meters or the fuse board. Those have to stay reachable, so any storage is designed around them. Sash and bay windows are common in houses of that age too, and good places for seating with storage below.
The written quote is your record of the job. It sets out the eaves cupboard designed for your room, what it’s made from and how it’s finished, and the workshop works from it.

When is bespoke worth it?
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.
Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that are not square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths, and standard units leave gaps.
What it is made from
Hand-painted finish
A hand-painted finish can be done in your home after fitting. Small marks are simple to touch in later. That suits a room in daily use.
Moisture-resistant MDF
Because it cuts cleanly, MDF is ideal for angled panels under the slope. We use a moisture-resistant grade, which is stable and takes paint well. It makes up most of the visible parts.
Loft storage in Willesden Green: local notes
Homes built before 1919 make up about 69% of the housing in the area around Willesden Green, with about 11% built between 1919 and 1939, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Willesden Green include Church of St Andrew (Grade II*), less than half a mile north, and St Andrew's Church School (Grade II), under half a mile north. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, like fixing into original panelling. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. TfL’s red routes have strict stopping rules. If you live on or close to a main road in Willesden Green, let us know at the measuring visit. We’ll plan where the van can stop.
If your children go to Donnington Primary School or a school nearby, deep drawers suit the bulky things families collect, from scooters to swimming kit. For a flat near Kensal Rise station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. If you live near Roundwood Park, living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.

Your questions about loft storage in Willesden Green
Is Willesden Green in the area you cover for loft storage?
Yes, we work across Brent, Willesden Green included, and across the rest of London. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.
Will a conservation area stop me having loft storage fitted in Willesden Green?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can require listed building consent from the council. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?
An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture, which helps avoid condensation and mould. Any damp needs sorting by the right specialist before fitting.
How long is the fitting for eaves storage?
How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Because everything is made in our workshop, the work in your home is the fitting itself. We keep the route up to the loft as clear as possible.
My walls aren’t straight. Is that a problem?
That’s normal in older homes, and it’s what scribing is for. Edges are scribed to the wall, and adjustable feet or a plinth bring the furniture up to level.
What do eaves cupboards cost?
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Drawers in the knee wall normally involve more work than simple cupboards, and the finish matters too. Everything is set out in a quote in writing after the visit.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
In a loft room, walls and floors are seldom square. Standard furniture leaves visible gaps. We scribe our storage to the slopes and walls, and set it level. The two recesses beside a chimney breast are seldom an identical size, and standard units bought as a pair rarely suit both. Each side can be made to its own size.
Tricky rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it.

How fitting works for loft storage
At the end, we tidy up and lift the floor protection. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you and explain how to look after the paint. How long fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Terraced streets in London are often lined with parked cars, so details of permits, bays and any loading restrictions help. The van is unloaded quickly, with the sections carried straight in. Saturday fitting can be arranged.
- You contact us about storage in your converted loft.
- At the design visit we plan the storage and measure the stairs, landings and loft doorway. Let us know about parking too, as a van often needs a permit or a paid bay.
- A quote in writing follows, covering the design, materials and finish.
- Everything is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections small enough for the loft stairs.
- The sections go up the stairs, are assembled under the eaves and set level. The finish is sprayed in the workshop or hand-painted in the loft.
Before fitting day
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician in advance
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
How to get a quote
The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. Afterwards, we send a written quote. To book one, use our contact form.
