Loft Storage in Hampton
We make loft storage for homes in Hampton, designed around the room you have. We design your eaves cupboard at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.
- A boarded loft with no proper shelving
- Wasted space behind the knee walls
- Boxes and suitcases with no home

What we do not do
We make and fit furniture, and we do not do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. Please bear these in mind too:
- Any wiring, which needs an electrician
- Loft conversions, which we don’t carry out
- Adding or replacing insulation
If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can use our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer. How it works.
What goes into it
- Eaves doors and drawers
- Sloped wardrobe tops
- Hand-painted finish
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Spray-painted finish
- Birch plywood
How we make loft storage for Hampton
Getting furniture up to a loft room is part of the planning. At the design visit, we measure the stairs and landings as well as the loft, so every section made in our workshop fits up the stairs. It is part of the job for any loft room in Hampton. If your home has a sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe and needing storage in a loft office, that’s what eaves cupboards are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around Hampton, many have had the loft converted, leaving low eaves and sloping ceilings. Those spaces, along with bays and hallways, are where fitted storage can add the most. For lofts, we work in spaces that are already converted or boarded.
After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Questions we are often asked
Do you cover homes near Hampton station?
Yes. We cover all of Richmond upon Thames and the rest of London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Hampton?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Do you work on Saturdays?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.
How much does loft storage cost?
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Drawers in the knee wall typically involve more work than simple cupboards, and the finish matters too. Everything is set out in a written quote after the visit.
Does eaves storage affect the insulation?
Not when it’s planned well. We look behind the knee wall at the measuring visit and plan the storage so air can still move. Insulation and ventilation work itself isn’t ours.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
External walls can be colder and damper than internal ones, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps. If there is damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.
The problems loft storage solve
A boarded loft can be made far more useful with shelving. Shelves and cupboards keep things off the floor and easy to find. It’s ideal for things you need now and then.
Typical reasons people contact us include:
- A loft room with too many jobs
- Boxes piled on loft boards
- A loft room that still feels unfinished
- Space under the eaves going to waste
For a flat near Hampton station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.
Choosing a carpenter
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
- How the doors are hung and adjusted
- Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?
How fitting day works
Once the main sections are fixed in place, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly. How long the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Some interwar and suburban streets have driveways, which can make unloading easier, so it’s worth mentioning at the measuring visit. Otherwise, details of permits or nearby bays help. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.
- You get in touch and let us know about the loft and the stairs up to it.
- We visit to measure the loft and the way up, including the top flight and any tight turn.
- We send a quote in writing.
- Everything is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections small enough for the loft stairs.
- The sections go up the stairs, are assembled under the eaves and set level.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
Arranging a design visit
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you do not, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.

Loft storage for homes in Hampton
About 33% of the homes in the area around Hampton went up between 1973 and 1999, and about 21% between 1919 and 1939, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. That matters for eaves cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Within a mile of the centre of Hampton, 5 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Many London boroughs run controlled parking zones, and Richmond upon Thames sets its own rules. If parking near you is controlled, a visitor permit or a bay suspension may be needed, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. Tell us what the parking is like during the design visit.
For an older house near All Saints' Hampton, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using. If you live near Carlisle Park, eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.

Flats, blocks and rented homes
In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. At the design visit, we measure the stairs, the landings, any lift and the doors, so each section is sized to get through.
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Let us know about it when you get in touch.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.
It’s worth being honest about cost: flat-pack is normally cheaper to buy. Bespoke earns its place where the room is awkward, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.
