Loft storage in Twickenham
Loft storage in Twickenham
We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded. We don’t carry out loft conversions, and Building Regulations apply to a conversion. With the room in place, we can plan the storage. If you have a converted loft in Twickenham, the design visit is the first step. Typical reasons to get in touch are unused space in a dormer and ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Older rooms often suit panelled doors, newer rooms plainer ones. For a home in Twickenham, door styles are talked through at the measuring visit. You choose the colour, spray-painted in the workshop or hand-painted on site.
After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish.

How we price loft storage
The price for your room depends on:
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- How big the furniture is
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- The number of doors and drawers
The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.
Before the design visit
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. When you get in touch, it is useful to send:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- What the furniture needs to hold
- Rough sizes: width, height and depth
- The type of home and how the room is reached
To get a quote, drop us a line using the contact form and tell us a little about the room and what you want the furniture to do. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and send you a quote in writing afterwards.

Questions we’re often asked
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Twickenham?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Is Twickenham in the area you cover for loft storage?
Yes. Twickenham is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Richmond upon Thames and London. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with a few details.
Is it possible to fit a wardrobe under the slope?
Yes. Bespoke wardrobes are made to the angle of the ceiling. Hanging goes where there is height, with shelves where it is low. It’s cut to fit the ceiling and walls exactly.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and go through the design with you. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and a written quote follows.
Can I send photos before the visit?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit. It’s useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
Will the storage fit up my loft stairs?
We measure the stairs and landings as well as the loft room. We size every section for the tightest turn, and the pieces are put together in the room.
Twickenham homes and loft storage
In the neighbourhood around Twickenham, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 39%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 29%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. 14 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of central Twickenham. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. All of London, Richmond upon Thames included, is inside the ULEZ. It applies to the vans that deliver and fit furniture in Twickenham, as it does anywhere else in London. How the van gets to your door is planned during the design visit.
If you live in a flat close to Twickenham station, eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. Near listed buildings like Church of All Hallows, about 0.5 miles north-east of the centre of Twickenham, older homes may keep original joinery that eaves cupboards can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. Close to Marble Hill Park? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.

How it’s made
Pull-out drawers
Drawers in the knee wall let you use the deep, low space without crawling in. Each one is sized for what it will hold. They’re ideal for clothes and bedding.
Spray-painted finish
A spray-painted finish is smooth and even. We spray in the workshop, so the finish is complete before fitting. The colour is agreed with you.
How fitting day works
When we arrive on fitting day, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. The sections made at our workshop come in next, a piece at a time. How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are assembled, scribed to the walls and levelled. The fixings suit whatever the walls are made of. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.
- It starts when you contact us with a few details about the loft, and how you get up to it.
- We visit to measure the eaves and slopes and discuss the design, including the headroom under the slope.
- A quote in writing follows, with the design, finish and fitting days set out.
- The cupboards and drawers are made in our workshop, in sections sized for the loft stairs.
- We fit it in your home, scribed to the slopes and the walls.
How to prepare
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
Getting a quote
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, when we’ve measured up and talked through the design. For a quote, send us a few details through our contact form.
Related advice
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Off-the-shelf pieces come in the maker’s finishes. We paint the storage in the colour you choose, so it can match the walls and the woodwork. Recesses, sloping ceilings and awkward corners are where ready-made furniture struggles most, and most homes have at least one. Fitted furniture is designed around them.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Tell us about parking at the measuring visit, so we can plan for it.

Practical tips
A little care keeps the finish looking good, whether it was spray painted or hand painted. Here are our suggestions:
- Decide whether you’d prefer drawers, cupboards or both
- Think about what will go in each cupboard or drawer
- Find out what’s behind the eaves, from insulation to vents
- Bring paint colours you like to the design visit
Wiping the fronts with a soft, damp cloth is usually all they need. Dry them afterwards, and avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents. The edges around handles are touched most.
Don’t overfill drawers, as heavy loads strain the runners. It is useful to clear out now and then. Keep the heaviest things near the floor.
