Hampton Hill Loft Storage

Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. Our work on loft storage in Hampton Hill starts with a design visit, and everything is built in our workshop.

  • An empty dormer that could hold shelves
  • A boarded loft that is hard to keep organised
  • A loft room that still feels unfinished

About our loft storage in Hampton Hill

Many loft rooms are bedrooms, and storage for clothes is the first need. A wardrobe under the slope, knee-wall drawers and dormer shelves make a complete set. Designed as one, they give the room calm, consistent lines. For a home in Hampton Hill, it is planned around your things. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about a loft room with too many jobs and no wardrobe that fits under the slope.

Across London, neighbouring streets can be decades apart in age, so the tricky spaces vary too: a bay, the space under the stairs, a hallway recess or the eaves of a converted loft. The furniture is made for the space as it is. Any meters, fuse boards or boilers stay accessible.

Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. The finish is stated too, whether that’s spray painting or hand painting.

Flats, leases and landlords

If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.

A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind.

What happens on fitting day

The last stage of the day is the finish. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Before fitting day, we check the route in not just the room, so eaves cupboards arrive in sections that fit through. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.

  1. First we hear about the loft room and what you’d like to store, including the eaves and any dormer.
  2. At the design visit, the room and the route up are measured.
  3. The design is agreed and a quote in writing follows, with the finish set out.
  4. The storage is made in our workshop, in sections sized for the stairs. It’s made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We carry it up, fit it and check every door and drawer with you. Any hand painting is done in the loft.

Before we arrive

Advice

Before and after fitting day

Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after. These habits help most:

  • Consider drawers for the deep, low spaces
  • Choose a calm colour for the loft
  • Empty the eaves so we can see what’s behind
  • Mention any parking rules on your street

Wiping the fronts with a soft, damp cloth is typically all they need. Dry them afterwards, and avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents. Handles and drawer edges pick up marks first.

Sharp edges and heavy boxes can chip a painted edge. Put tools in a case so they do not knock the paint. Minor chips can be touched up with the matching colour.

Bespoke loft storage or ready-made?

Ready-made furniture has to come up the loft stairs in one piece or flat-packed. We make each piece in sections that fit up the stairs. That makes it possible to fit large pieces in a small loft. Recesses, sloping ceilings and tricky corners are where ready-made furniture struggles most, and most homes have at least one. Built-in pieces are made to fit them.

How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

Common questions about loft storage

I live near Fulwell station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Richmond upon Thames and the rest of London. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with a few details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

Do you make loft storage for homes in Hampton Hill?

Yes, Hampton Hill is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Richmond upon Thames and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

Can you convert my loft as well?

No. Our work is storage in loft rooms that are already converted, or in boarded lofts. A conversion is building work, and Building Regulations apply. Once your loft is converted, we can design the storage.

How long is the fitting for eaves storage?

The time the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Every part is built in our workshop before we arrive. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, by prior arrangement. Let us know when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.

Can a wardrobe follow a sloping ceiling?

Yes. Bespoke wardrobes are made to the angle of the ceiling. The tall end takes hanging space, and the low end can hold shelves or drawers. It’s cut to fit the ceiling and walls exactly.

Why people ask for loft storage in Hampton Hill

A new loft conversion often needs storage to finish it. Standard furniture rarely suits the new room. Storage made for the slopes completes it.

We are often asked to help with:

  • Unused space in a dormer
  • Low eaves that nobody can use
  • Seasonal things cluttering the loft room
  • Boxes piled on loft boards

If you live in a flat close to Fulwell station, it is useful to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.

Choosing a carpenter

  • Will they visit to measure before quoting?
  • How the furniture will be finished, and where
  • Whether you’ll get a written quote, not just a figure
  • Are the boards named, like MDF or plywood?
