Colindale Walk-in Wardrobes
Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. Our work on walk-in wardrobes in Colindale starts with a design visit, and everything is built in our workshop.
- Storage for clothes that have outgrown the wardrobe
- Separate space for two people’s clothes
- A dressing area in part of a bedroom

Do you need walk-in wardrobes in Colindale?
Sharing one wardrobe between two rarely works for long. We can design separate areas for hanging, shelves and drawers, so neither of you is squeezed.
If any of these sound familiar, it’s worth getting in touch:
- Separate space for two people’s clothes
- Storage for clothes that have outgrown the wardrobe
- Moving wardrobes out of the bedroom
- Long and double hanging planned around your clothes
Living in a block of flats near Hendon station? Then each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.
Choosing a carpenter
- Can you see real work of theirs?
- How parking will work on your street
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
- Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Colindale
We fit walk-in wardrobes in Colindale and across London. It starts with a design visit to measure and plan the layout, then a quote in writing. Everything is built in our workshop and fitted in your home. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days, so you will know before we start. Most enquiries start with moving wardrobes out of the bedroom and the right mix of long and short hanging; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
In a compact bedroom, the swing of hinged doors can clash with the bed, so sliding doors or a careful layout can help. Around Colindale, many homes date from 2000 onwards, and newer bedrooms tend to be on the small side. We measure the space in front as well as the wall.
After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Bedrooms in Colindale: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the area around Colindale were built since 2000 (about 50%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 24%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. There are 8 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Colindale. Being near listed buildings doesn’t make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. More than a third of the homes in the neighbourhood around Colindale (about 50%) were built since 2000, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Newer homes often have compact bedrooms with plasterboard stud walls, so fitted pieces use the full height and are fixed into the studs.
If your home is one of the older houses near St Matthias the Apostle church, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go. If you live near Sunny Hill Park, a bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls.

Questions from Colindale
Is parking a problem for fitting in Colindale?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.
How do you fit walk-in wardrobes in a flat in Colindale?
At the design visit, we measure the way in along with the room itself. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. It is useful to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
It can be done with some care: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. We do not treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.
Can a box room become a walk-in wardrobe?
In many cases, yes. The layout depends on the room, the door and the window. We plan it at the measuring visit.
How long does fitting take?
How long the fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. Tell us when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.

Pricing walk-in wardrobes in Colindale
What you pay depends on:
- The overall size of the piece
- Doors and drawers, and how many
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- Parking and unloading on your street
The finish affects the cost: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.
Getting in touch
When you contact us, these help most:
- Approximate measurements of the space
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. To book a design visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
What happens on fitting day
When the fitting is done, we tidy the room. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together and explain how to look after the paint. How long fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Walls in newer homes are often plasterboard on studs, so fixings go into the studs or use fixings made for the board. Floors are covered while we work.
- You get in touch and describe the room.
- At the design visit we agree the layout and check how the units will reach the room. It’s useful to mention parking then, as much of London has controlled parking zones.
- We send a written quote.
- Everything is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections that fit the route in.
- The units are brought in, assembled and set level.
How to prepare
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Let us know about parking near your home
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
Getting a quote
To make a start, message us from the contact page and tell us a little about the room. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and a written quote follows.
Advice
Flats, blocks and rented homes
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it.
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We can’t give advice on leases.
