Walk-in wardrobes for your home in Waltham Forest
Walk-in wardrobes in Waltham Forest
Our walk-in wardrobes are made for homes in Waltham Forest and all over London. It starts with a design visit to measure and plan the layout, followed by a quote. Everything is made in our workshop and fitted in your home. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. We make walk-in wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the things people most often want solved are somewhere to sit and get ready and moving wardrobes out of the bedroom.
In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around Waltham Forest, bedrooms are often simple shapes, sometimes with a chimney breast or a bay. Fitted furniture can run along the longest wall, with the inside arranged to suit you. Where a loft conversion has been added, the sloping ceiling can take storage too.
If the job needs another trade, such as an electrician or a plumber, we will tell you, so it can be arranged before fitting day. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.
A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls.
Common questions about walk-in wardrobes
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Waltham Forest?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to let us know about parking during the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.
Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Waltham Forest?
Yes. We cover the whole of London, all 32 boroughs and the City of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.
How much does a walk-in wardrobe cost?
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Each walk-in wardrobe is different, so we price it after the design visit. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.
Do you do the electrics?
No. Any new wiring, sockets or lights need an electrician. We will design around them.
Can a walk-in wardrobe be part of a bedroom?
Yes, if there’s enough space. A section of the room can become a dressing area, open or behind doors. A new partition wall is building work, so that’s for your builder.
Do I need permission to fit furniture in a leasehold flat?
Possibly. A lease can require consent for alterations. Check your lease, as we can’t advise on it.
Waltham Forest homes and walk-in wardrobes
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Waltham Forest were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 39%) and before 1919 (about 23%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Waltham Forest include Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge (Grade II*), less than half a mile west, and Church of St John the Baptist (Grade II), about 0.6 miles south-east. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, such as fixing into original panelling. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. Fewer homes around Waltham Forest date from before 1919 than across the rest of London: about 23%, against about 45%, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We check what the walls are made of during the design visit, as they vary with the age of the home.
For a family home near Normanhurst School, the inside of walk-in wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow. Close to Linder's Field? Keeping walk-in wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright. If you live in a flat close to Chingford station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.

Flats, blocks and rented homes
In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. At the design visit, we measure the stairs, the landings, any lift and the doors, so each section is sized to get through without a struggle.
Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. We choose fixings to suit the wall, after checking the walls during the design visit.
Practical tips
Looking after painted furniture is simple with a little care. A few things help it stay looking good:
- Plan shoe storage around what you own
- Deal with any damp walls first
- Think about long versus double hanging
- Have a clear-out before we measure
Hand-painted finishes are easy to touch up. Spray-painted finishes are smooth and even, and clean easily with a soft cloth.
Plan any lighting with your electrician in good time. Wiring is their work, not ours, and the units can be designed around the lighting.
How fitting day works
Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Clearing the room and the way in beforehand helps the day run well. On the day, we cover the floors first, then bring the sections in. Each piece is levelled, scribed where the wall wanders and fixed to suit the wall.
- It starts with a short note from you.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling at several points, as few rooms are truly square.
- A written quote follows.
- We make the walk-in wardrobe in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the units and trim the edges to meet the walls and ceiling.
- Before we leave we go through the doors and drawers with you; new paintwork needs gentle handling while it cures.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
Starting with a design visit
A quote begins with some details from you: the room, rough sizes and some pictures if you have them. When you are ready, tell us about the room on our contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.
