Woodside Park Walk-in Wardrobes

Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. We make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Woodside Park, each designed at a visit to your home.

  • A dressing table with drawers and a mirror
  • Storage for clothes that have outgrown the wardrobe
  • Long and double hanging planned around your clothes

Walk-in wardrobes in Woodside Park

Woodside Park homes and walk-in wardrobes

About 29% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Woodside Park went up before 1919, and about 29% between 1919 and 1939, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Near the centre of Woodside Park, Historic England’s list includes Lodge to Finchley Catholic High School (Grade II), under half a mile north, and Terrace Cottage Terrace House (Grade II), about 0.5 miles north. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, may need listed building consent. It’s worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. All of London, Barnet included, is inside the ULEZ. That includes the vans that bring and fit furniture in Woodside Park. Access and parking are talked through at the design visit.

If your home is one of the older houses near Saint Barnabas' Church, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go. Heath Hall, about 3 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice. If your children go to Northside Primary School or a school nearby, walk-in wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow.

Walk-in wardrobes in Woodside Park: what you get

Beyond the hanging, drawers, shelves and shoe storage do a lot of the work. Shelves suit folded clothes and bags, while drawers hold smaller things and shoes get shelving of their own. A dressing table with a mirror can be built in where there is space. We make walk-in wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about moving wardrobes out of the bedroom and a side each for a couple.

Older bedrooms bring bowed walls and high ceilings, newer ones stud walls and lower ceilings. A home in Woodside Park might be either, or neither. We scribe, level and fix to suit whichever you have. The height of the room decides how tall the pieces can be.

The furniture is made at our workshop after you’ve had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

How fitting day works

When we arrive on fitting day, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. Next, we carry in the sections built in our workshop, a piece at a time. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days. It helps to clear the room and the route in before fitting day, including pictures on nearby walls. Floors and doorways are protected before anything comes in. Then the sections come in and are joined in place.

  1. We start with the space and the clothes it needs to hold.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and plan the hanging, shelves and drawers, including any dressing table.
  3. We send a written quote with the design, materials and finish.
  4. The units are made and finished in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level.

Preparing the room

  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
  • Empty the space we will be working in

Arranging a design visit

If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. We choose fixings to suit the wall, which we check at the measuring visit.

A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind.

How we price walk-in wardrobes

Prices vary from room to room, and it comes down to:

  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • Doors and drawers, and how many
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers

We don’t publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a written quote, naming the materials and finish. To arrange a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

Before the design visit

There is no need for exact sizes or plans. Just send what you can:

  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
  • Your postcode and the borough
  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner

It helps to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them give us a good feel for the space, especially with rough measurements. To share them, use our contact form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.

Why bespoke in Woodside Park?

If you’re likely to move soon, standalone furniture you can take with you may suit better. It is worth thinking about how long you plan to stay before you decide. Ready-made furniture rarely suits a recess, a slope or an odd corner, and most homes have at least one. Fitted furniture is designed around them.

Awkward rooms take more time: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. The quote allows for it.

Why choose Bespoke Carpentry in Woodside Park

  • Every quote follows a design visit
  • Built around your room
  • Made in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Spray painted or hand painted, in the colour you choose

Take a look at how bespoke compares with ready-made or what to look for in a quote.

Honest limits

We do not treat damp or carry out building work, and there are a few other limits too:

  • Making good walls and ceilings
  • Advice on your lease
  • Electrical work in the room

If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can use our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer. Our process from visit to fitting.

FAQs: walk-in wardrobes in Woodside Park

Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Woodside Park?

Yes, we work across Barnet, Woodside Park included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with some details.

Is parking a problem for fitting in Woodside Park?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.

What does a walk-in wardrobe cost?

Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Each walk-in wardrobe is different, so we price it after the design visit. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.

Can you put a walk-in wardrobe in part of a bedroom?

Yes. A run of units can define a dressing area, and we fit the furniture once any building work is done.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, by arrangement. Tell us when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.

What if the stairs or lift are small?

The furniture is built in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. At the design visit, we measure the route not just the room.
