Bespoke kitchens for your home in Blendon

Do you need bespoke kitchens in Blendon?

Often the call comes after building work has opened up the space. A new layout deserves a kitchen designed for it, and building work itself is for your builder.

If any of these sound familiar, it is worth getting in touch:

  • A central island in a larger kitchen
  • A kitchen planned around your appliances
  • Making the most of a galley kitchen
  • Tall larder storage

Close to Danson Park? A cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen.

Before you choose who makes it

  • Are the boards named, such as MDF or plywood?
  • Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
  • Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done
  • How they’ll get the furniture into the room

Our checklist for choosing a carpenter

Bespoke kitchens in Blendon: what you get

Many people want a tall larder for food, tins and small appliances. A larder can have shelves, deep drawers and racks, sized to what you keep in them. Built into an alcove or the end of a wall, it puts tricky space to work. Most enquiries start with cabinets for a narrow kitchen and more storage in a small kitchen, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

Around Blendon, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, walls tend to be truer than in older houses, though nothing is assumed. Each cabinet is levelled and scribed on site. Gas work is for an engineer on the Gas Safe Register, and the plumbing and electrics are for your plumber and electrician.

Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out, so it can be arranged before fitting day. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

How fitting works for bespoke kitchens

In older rooms, the furniture usually has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it looks as though it was always there. The time the fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Hand-painted furniture can be finished on site; spray-painted pieces arrive finished from the workshop. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. We start with how you use the kitchen and what is not working. It helps to know the worktop, sink and appliances you have in mind.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and talk through the layout, storage and finish.
  3. A quote in writing follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish, for you to read through.
  4. The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician handle the plumbing, gas and electrics.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
  • Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

Getting a quote

Photos help us understand the room before we visit. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them give us a good feel for the space, along with rough sizes. To share them, message us from the contact page, and we will arrange a design visit.

What affects the cost of bespoke kitchens

Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. These are the things that affect it:

  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • How square the room is
  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted
  • Parking and unloading on your street

Every room is priced on its own, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

Before the design visit

What helps most when you first contact us:

  • Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Examples of the look you’re after

You don’t need exact measurements to get started. Everything is measured properly when we visit, along with the walls, floor and ceiling. To get started, send us a few details through our contact form with a few details about the room. You receive a quote in writing after the visit.

Kitchens in Blendon: local notes

The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Blendon were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 63%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 22%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. That matters for kitchens, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Blendon include Jays Cottages (Grade II), less than half a mile north, and Chapel House (Grade II), under half a mile north-west. If your own home is listed, internal works that affect its character, such as fixing into or removing original joinery, can require listed building consent. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. Many London boroughs run controlled parking zones, and Bexley sets its own rules. Depending on your street in Blendon, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a council bay suspension may be needed. We ask about parking during the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.

Danson House, about 0.7 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. If you live in a flat close to Albany Park station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.

Common questions about bespoke kitchens

Is Blendon in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?

Yes. We cover all of Bexley and the rest of London, and Blendon is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Albany Park station?

Yes. We cover all of Bexley and the rest of London. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

How is the furniture painted?

You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.

How do you get the furniture up the stairs?

We plan the route in at the design visit. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doors, and the furniture is made in sections sized to get through.

Will a bespoke kitchen suit my uneven floor?

Yes, that’s part of the job. Walls in older homes are rarely flat and floors often slope, so we scribe and level every cabinet.

How long does fitting take?

The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days.

How it’s made

Hand-painted finish

Hand painting gives a softer, traditional look in an older home.

Moisture-resistant MDF

MDF gives a smooth surface for painted doors, and the moisture-resistant grade suits a kitchen.

Could you do it yourself?

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well.

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. Off-the-shelf furniture can’t usually do that in an older room.
