How it is made
Larder and dresser units
A dresser pairs cupboards below with open shelves above, made to fit its wall.
Plinths and scribe strips
A plinth hides adjustable feet and lets the cabinets sit level. Scribe strips close the gap to a wall that is not straight.
Bespoke kitchens in Creekmouth: what you get
We often use moisture-resistant MDF in kitchens, because it copes with a room that gets steamy. Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well. Cabinets are spray painted in the workshop or hand painted, in the colours you choose. Typical reasons to get in touch are making the most of a galley kitchen and spaces sized for your oven and fridge; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
A large number of homes around Creekmouth date from 2000 onwards, and newer homes usually have open-plan kitchens. A bespoke kitchen can be planned to sit well in that space, with an island where there is room. Walls in newer homes are often plasterboard on studs, so wall cabinets are fixed into the studs or use fixings made for the board.
Our quotes are written in plain words, without jargon. You’ll see what will be made, the boards used and the finish.

The problems bespoke kitchens solve
Uneven walls and floors make standard kitchens hard to fit. Gaps and wavy lines are hard to hide, while scribed and levelled cabinets keep the lines true.
We’re often asked to help with:
- Making the most of a galley kitchen
- A kitchen finished in your colours
- Cabinets built around the appliances you choose
- More storage in a small kitchen
If you live in a period home close to Christ Church, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- A quote in writing that sets out the job
- How doors and drawers are fitted
- Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
- Whether the route into your home has been checked
DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job, and it is easy to buy.
The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

If your own home is listed, internal works that affect its character, such as fixing into or removing original joinery, can require listed building consent. About 37% of homes around Creekmouth were built since 2000, well above the figure for Barking and Dagenham as a whole, about 20%, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Newer homes often have stud walls and compact rooms, so fixings and sizes are planned with that in mind.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Creekmouth
Is Creekmouth in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?
Yes, Creekmouth is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Barking and Dagenham and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, followed by a quote.
My home in Creekmouth is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
At the design visit, we measure the way in as well as the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. It is useful to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
Can you build an island in my kitchen?
If there is enough room, yes. There has to be comfortable space on every side, and we measure for it at the measuring visit. If the room is narrow, we will suggest other layouts.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work, but it is useful to be around at the end.
Which worktops and appliances can I have?
The worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose, and we design the cabinets around them. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
What happens when you come to measure?
We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We also check the walls and floors and note radiators, sockets and other things in the way, then send a quote in writing.

How fitting works for bespoke kitchens
When we arrive on fitting day, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. Next, we carry in the sections made in our workshop. The time the fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Fitting day starts by covering floors and setting out the sections. Each piece is levelled and fixed to suit plasterboard or block. Any hand painting can be finished on site.
- It starts with a short note from you about the room.
- At the design visit we measure the kitchen and the route in, including stairs, doorways and any lift. Let us know about parking too, as a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension.
- We send a quote in writing.
- The cabinets are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, sized to come in through your doors.
- The cabinets are fitted in your home with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish; plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician.
How to prepare
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
