Our fitted wardrobes across N15

Rail heights are set for the clothes they hold. A tall section suits long coats and dresses, while shirts, jackets and folded trousers suit two rails, one above the other. We plan for the people using it too. Most enquiries start with too little room for clothes and storage boxes stacked under the bed, and the answer is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

Every fitting follows the same order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and your quote sets out the fitting days.

  1. To begin, send us a few details through our contact form; a brief note on the bedroom and what you need to store is enough.
  2. We visit to measure up and work out the inside with you, from rail heights to drawer depths.
  3. The written quote sets out each wardrobe’s inside layout, the doors, the materials and the finish.
  4. The wardrobes are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, ready for the rails, shelves and drawers you chose.
  5. The wardrobes are fitted in your home, spray-painted in the workshop or hand-painted on site, and the inside fittings go in last.

How our quotes work

Tricky rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. That’s reflected in the quote.

Fitted wardrobes across N15: local notes

We make fitted wardrobes for homes across N15, in Tottenham, Tottenham Green and South Tottenham and beyond. On an external wall, ventilation is designed in to help keep condensation away. Each wall is checked so the fixings suit it.

Homes built before 1919 make up about 51% of the housing in the N15 postcode district, with about 15% built since 2000, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. About 51% of homes in N15 were built before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Older bedrooms typically have alcoves and tall ceilings, both of which fitted wardrobes can use, scribed to walls that aren’t straight. Flats in converted or shared houses account for about 21% of households in the N15 postcode district, according to Census 2021. Conversions often leave rooms in unusual shapes, with partition walls, boxed-in pipes and chimney breasts in odd places, and the route in may go through a shared hall and stairs. A lease can require consent for alterations, so it is worth checking yours first.

Homes across N15 range from period terraces to modern blocks, and we work in all of them. Wherever you live, it starts with a visit and a quote.

Tottenham Green: If your home is one of the older houses near Church of Holy Trinity, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Parish Church of St Ann, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.

It’s worth being honest about cost: off-the-shelf furniture typically costs less up front. Bespoke earns its place where the room is tricky, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.

What it’s made from

Birch plywood

Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, so it’s a good choice for carcasses, shelves and drawer boxes. Its layered edge can be painted or left on show.

Doors and drawer fronts

Door styles range from simple flat fronts to panelled ones. You choose a colour that matches or contrasts with the room.

What prompts fitted wardrobes

Sharing a bedroom means sharing the wardrobe. We can plan separate sections for each person, each with its own mix of hanging, shelves and drawers.

Here are some of the needs we are asked about most:

  • Clothes with nowhere proper to go
  • A room too narrow for hinged doors
  • Dusty space on top of the wardrobe
  • Wasted space beside the chimney breast

Is bespoke worth it?

Bought wardrobes are made in set sizes, so there’s typically a gap on top and at the ends. A fitted wardrobe fills the space wall to wall and up to the ceiling.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
  • Have they thought about parking near you?
  • Will the doors close with even gaps?
  • Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so it’s worth raising at the measuring visit.

Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, as it makes good use of an tricky room. It is made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, finished by spray or by hand.

Common questions about fitted wardrobes

Do I get to choose the colour?

The choice is yours. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you’ve chosen.

What happens at the design visit?

We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and afterwards we send a quote in writing.

Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?

Not typically. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.

Do you cover N15?

Yes, we do. We work in N15 and across Haringey.

How much will my fitted wardrobe cost?

Every job is priced for its room: the size, what goes inside, the finish and how square the room is all count. You will get a quote in writing once we’ve measured up.

Should I send pictures?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, particularly with rough sizes. To send them, fill in our short enquiry form.

Is it possible to have storage over the bed?

Yes. Storage around a bed makes good use of a wall that is often wasted. We measure the bed and the room at the design visit.
